Q: I’m lookong into a new stainless oil filter, the CRF I bought had a stainless in it however there was no spring in there. Do these not use springs?

Rubber side out right? Meaning rubber attached to the oil cover and flat side going inward?

A: Yes you will need to use you stock spring. I've included the part number for your 2003 Honda CRF450R below.

Q: How do you clean these filters? Do you just use contact cleaner?

A: I use a plastic 10 pound Foldgers can half full of Dawn and water. Let it soak for several hours to a day, then shake the filter in the dawn/water to make sure it penetrates; then rinse, dry thoroughly, and reinstall.
