AGV AX-8 Dual EVO Helmet - Karakum GFkam - Great Falls, VA, USA Initial 300 miles review "This is very preliminary impression of AGV AX-8 Dual EVO helmet. The helmet runs smaller than my Medium Arai XD-4. I initially order a Medium based on current helmet and measuring my head. However, the Medium was way too tight. I managed to find one of the last 2016 year models in size Large. I am somewhere between Medium and Large. I decided for the last year model clearance to keep the large. Clearly there is a shell difference ( size ) between Medium and Large. I noticed the AGV has no ear cut out for speakers or earbuds. In general the area around the ears feels very snug for me. Hopefully overtime the foam will be compress down. For now I am using earbuds with my Sena S20 intercom. To mount the Sena, using the metal clamp plate, you need to first slip the inside plate between helmet outer shell and inside finish. The standard length screws that come with Sena works to clamp to parts down. Initial ride with helmet made the beak vibrate bad. But I figured it had to do my my fairing on my F800GS and I had the helmet strap too tight. Pretty stable now. The visibility of AGV is fantastic. Comfort is pretty descent except tight around ears. Will try to post an update after I log a few thousand miles."
AGV Helmets: A Formula for Success
Founded in 1946, the Italian born AGV got its start making leather seats and motorcycle saddles. In 1947, the AGV motorcycle helmet came to life. It was hand-made from a wooden mold. Today, its history in head safety is long and storied. AGV started a loud buzz in 1956 with its jet fighter helmet, based on the helmets worn by jet fighter pilots. In 1967, the company introduced its full-face helmet and then in 1980 AGV introduced a helmet made with DuPont Kevlar fiber.
AGV developed a process revolutionizing helmet design through the use of a 3D laser scanning system. Instead of designing helmets around the outer shell, AGV starts with the head using the laser scanning technology. The 3D system enables AGV to design helmet inner shells and linings that more ergonomically fit to a rider's head while obtaining higher comfort and improved safety
