Super tough! Huge vents! Pockets big enough for my wallet, cell phone and truck keys.
Great pants. I gave it four stars because the leather became incredibly stiff after each washing. I’m having them fixed because after a year, the leather has come off. There is, however, an inner lining.
The over the boot thing is a farce for me. I could never Velcro off the bottom of the pant legs. I ware size 14 boots and 38 pants. I’m not a small guy. It was actually dangerous in the trails at times because the pant legs would get cought on tree limbs and the like. Maybe skinny guys have better luck.
Very comfortable pants. I’m looking at buying another pair. I know I’m not really selling it well, but I really like the pants.
great fit. (even over my knee braces) and the over the boot helps keep my boots dry. POCKETS!!!!!!!!!!
After putting in a solid day on my new Klim Dakar OTB, here's what I've noticed. First impression out of the plastic were impressive. These pants are made of several heavy fabrics and screamed durability and craftsmanship. At that retail price, Though, that's what I was expect ion. They felt a touch bulky while trying on, but as I later found out, are actually snug around the boots and pads. The sizing, for me, felt a touch small. My 34's were tightish, but I'm gonna chalk that up to me maybe *gasp* having put on a few extra #'s.
The weight and bulk, while instilling a sense off durability, had me worried about mid ride comfort. This, however was not a problem. I never felt hindered or bulked down once. I ride technical, high speed single track with loads of elevation gain and drop. Very Rocky Mountain type riding. The pants moved well, to put it plainly. The items I put in several of the many pockets (I forgot how awesome having pockets could be!) didn't hinder movement in any way.
At the end of the day, My only issue was removing boots. The pants were a bit tough to pull up past the top of my boots. I think that's a non issue if you loosen the lower leg straps beforehand, tho.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the Klim Dakar OTB pants. They're worth the extra cost.
The Klim Dakar pants are very durable, fit true to size and have ample room for knee and hip accessories. Very protective, heavy duty material. I'm very happy with the product!
I am 6'1". Size 32 regular is a little too short, but tall is too long. A 3" difference is too much, I think. But I can live with it, quality is unsurpassed.
First, the over-the-boot cut is the way to go. Way more comfortable and keeps dirt out. The pant legs also seem to snag less than boot buckles on pegs and brush.
These pants are made with very good materials. They are incredibly comfortable. Fit well, and are well vented. Extremely durable. Dirt and stains disappear in the wash (use the extended cycle). No ripping or tearing. Started to feel really warm after one wreck, leg was jammed against the tailpipe. Thought the pants would be melted. Nope.
These are more expensive than many brands - but worth it.
Purchased the Dakar pants to use with a newly purchased KTM 500exc. The pant is extremely confortable in all riding conditions. I added hip padding and wear knee protection under the pants. I've taken some hard falls and the pants seem to emerge "no less for wear". I would definitely recommend the Dakar pants.
These things are built tough. I'm impressed with the quality. I ordered the tall size (I'm 6'3") and they are perfect. I wish more gear companies offered "tall". They are a little on the warm side for summer riding (better for winter) but do have generous vents.
