Ryan Villopoto, who won his fourth consecutive AMA Supercross championship this year, got the honor of throwing out the first pitch last week at Petco Park before the San Diego Padres faced the Milwaukee Brewers in San Diego.
Petco Park hosts a Supercross race on February 7, 2015 for the first time.
"Throwing out the first pitch at a Padres game was an awesome experience," Villopoto said. "I want to thank the Padres for this great opportunity. It's a neat perspective to see a baseball stadium without a full Supercross makeover. We are really excited to be racing here in downtown San Diego at Petco Park for the first time ever in February."
Interesting wording from Villopoto who is widely believed to be leaving American racing for the Motocross World Championships and won't be racing at Petco Park if he does. Even more interesting was the decision to make him the face of Supercross for attendees at the ballgame if he's not riding in 2015.
Maybe there's hope for Villopoto fans that he'll return for a chance to win an unprecedented fifth straight Supercross championship.
