Good product

I rebuilt my clutch system (basket, plates, center hub, and springs) on my 2007 crf 250r. The basket has not shown any signs of ware over 2 years of hard riding, 6 days per week. Install is very easy. I would, and have recommended this to my friends

First time clutch basket replacement

I was a little nervous about replacing the outter clutch basket on my 02 CRF450R, but it had gotten to the point where it wouldn't shift at all. Youtube had a great instructional video on doing the job- and after shopping around I found Motosport had the best price. I ordered it and started taking the bike apart. It was fairly easy, and Motosport also had all the gaskets and seals I needed to replace for this job. It took about an hour, to install an reassemble and brought the clutch feel back to how it felt when the bike was new. I was really happy with the instructions that Weisco provided and the fact that the kit had all the parts I needed.

Way better than OEM!

Installed this basket on my 2009 KTM 250SX instead of the Hinson because of the lifetime warranty. I cannot comment on durability yet, but the fit and finish are top notch. The clutch feel is smoother than stock. I just wish wiseco made the inner hub and pressure plate or even better a complete clutch assembly. Maybe they are just testing the waters with the basket.

Great basket for the price!

I just got a 05 yfz 450 and the whole clutch set up had to be replaced. I decided to get this wiseco basket and fiber steel spring kit along with a oem inner hub. I went with the wiseco because its $20 cheaper than the hinson and come with the lifetime warranty. I can't comment on any performance gains because the previous clutch was a mess but it is pretty simple to install. Watch the video ththat motosport has up for the hinson basket and it will show you what you have to do. Install time took me about 2 hours but it was my first time doing this. Great price here at motosport. Thanks guys. REMEMBER. TORQUE ALL BOLTS TO SPEC!

Not a Hinson

While this basket showed promise. When I installed this basket to the main gear (trx450r) the basket had way more play on the cushions than a Hinson. I returned this and put a Hinson in.

Quality fit

on the 03 crf450r the kick starter gear and the flywheel gear must be connected to the wiseco basket. i took the heated basket out of the oven, the kick starter gear didn't drop in so i rotated it one tooth and after about 8 or 9 rotations, PLOP it dropped right in! perfect. every thing fit perfect and she shifts like butta

Incredible Durability

I got this as part of a full clutch kit (apparently no longer offered) for a 2005 CR250. This is the most durable basket I have ever used. It has survived over 2 years of harescramble racing and is still working smooth. It has lasted longer than Performance Engineering (<1 year) and Hinson (<2 years) in the same bike with similar race schedule. You would be hard pressed to find a tougher aluminum clutch basket than this one.

Will the stock clutch discs and springs fit this basket. And can stock cushions fit or can you supply them.?

Yes. Any OEM clutch components can be used with this Wiseco Clutch Basket as it is a direct OEM replacement. I would recommend looking under the OEM parts diagrams for your bike for the cushions and other clutch parts you will need. http://www.motosport.com/dirtbike/oem-parts/KTM/2008/450EXCR/CLUTCH?fam=Engine

Do the baskets come with the gear on the back ?

No, you would need to remove the OEM primary gear from the OEM basket and then install it on the Wiseco Clutch Basket. Here is a link the to installation instructions for this clutch basket: http://gfx.motosport.com/product/Wiseco/ClutchBasket.pdf

No, you will have to transfer the gear to the basket. No big deal though.

No, you will have to reuse your current gear. Press it out of your old clutch basket, then heat the new basket in the stove (400* for 15 minutes) and then the old gear will drop right in. Place something heavy on the gear so as it cools it will be tight. In 20 minutes it's all set.

Unfortunately this basket is not made for the 1998 KTM 250SX, I would recommend looking at the OEM parts diagrams for the replacement basket from KTM. You can find that page here: http://www.motosport.com/dirtbike/oem-parts/KTM/1998/250SX/CLUTCH?fam=Engine

Why is the clutch kit $25.81 more than if I buy a basket and a clutch pack kit separately??
MotoSport Staff
2 years 4 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
MotosportStaff
After doing a little bit of digging on the price discrepancy, it turns out the kit is more expensive because it comes with the necessary cushions. The basket by itself does NOT come with them. We are updating our product descriptions to include this information. So if you were to purchase the basket and clutch kit separate- you would still need to purchase the cushions (which come in the complete kit).

Are all bikes listed under fits tab use the same part as chosen from catalog?
I look up Rm 125 year2002 and choose a clutch basket. When I look at the fits these bikes tab am I to assume the one I chose fits all those bikes?
MotoSport Staff Expert

No, definitely don't assume that all of those bikes listed are going to have the same clutch basket (that is why you must profile for your bike when you are picking out specific bike parts). Each bike has a specific part/item associated with it, so make sure that you have your 02' RM125 profiled when you add these items to your cart. If you have any questions or would like to make sure that you get the correct stuff for your bike, I'd recommend that you just give us a call so that we can place the order for you over the phone. We will do our best to make sure that you get it all right the first time!
