Good protection
These will save your hands from limbs and trees. The only problem I've had is if you lay the bike down, they will move a little and cause the throttle to stick some. I just take a rock or large limb and after a hit or two, its fine.

Best Bark Busters!
I purchased my first set of these in 2004. I just bought a new set in 2012. The first set lasted 8 years! Since I put these on, my hands, levers, controls, and bars have never been replaced. These are great and pay for themselves! I've only replaced them recently to freshen up the look of the bike with shiny and new. I recommend mounting them to the triple clamp. It's a couple extra bucks for the brackets, but well worth the added strength.

On these you can use the 1 1/8th U bolt clamp kit. You would just need to know if your handlebars were older than 2007 or newer than 2008. The other option is to use the 1 1/8th center reach kit.

All of the mounting kits would be equal in regards to durability in the event of a tip over. The main reason to have mounting options is to accommodate different bar mounts, triple clamps, steering stabilizers, add-ons, etc.
