I live in the Mid-South USA which is hot and very humid most of the riding season. These shoes do offer decent ankle protection and with thin socks your feet get very good ventilation. Most people don't even notice they are MC shoes and not Hi-Tops !!!. I've had a pair for two years and they're still in great shape. They only downsides are the strings are a bit short and you really need to scuff the soles before you ride so you don't bust your butt at the first intersection you come to......

I got these as an alternative to my Oxtar (now TCX) Infinity's for hot summer days. I really like the Infinity's as they offer superior protection but sometimes it's just too hot or impractical to wear them.
Anyway I got them last week and tried them on as I was unsure that I ordered the right size. I had read some reviews about these being large and suggestions to order one size down. I normally wear an 11 or a 12 depending on the shoe and I ordered 11's in these. The fit is very good but I wouldn't want them any bigger. My suggestion is order 1/2 size to a full size down but it depends on how tight you like your shoes. As far as comfort, I can say that I rode to work today and didn't want to take them off. They are kind of like wrestling shoes and I find them extremely comfortable. I think I found a new favorite shoe/boot. I could wear these all day long. They seem to offer a moderate amount of protection - not nearly what the Infinity's offer but still provide over the ankle protection. Durability remains to be seen. Overall my first impression is I love these.
