I wanted a good racing helmet without spending $1200, This helmet is perfect. Its light, has a snug fit, and looks great to.
Make sure you get the next size up. This helmet is smaller than your normal head size.
I love this helmet. I wear a size small in Bell and Icon. Had to order a size medium in this Shoei. Fits perfect. Was pretty tight at first but now its broken in and fits snug, but not too tight. This helmet is extremely comfortable and decently quiet compared to others i have worn. (Bell Star Carbon, Icon Variant, Scorpion Exo-400). The pinlock is amazing on cold mornings. This shield never fogs up at all, it's like magic. The internal sun visor is great. When it's really hot i can pop the face shield up and drop this down and still have some eye protection and a lot of airflow.
I have only had this helmet for a short time, but I have enjoyed it so far. Pretty much all the reviews I have read about this helmet are true. Very lightweight, good looking, and well made. Only a small complaint...you must keep the little breath guard in place. Even on warm days with it removed, the lens will fog up when you are stopped. Like I said though...not really a big deal. I put it back in and it was fine. As most people say, the cheek pads do make it a little tight, but I feel like they may be loosening up a bit so I will wait a while before I decide on whether or not to order the smaller cheek pads. I love the drop down sun shade! Overall...EXCELLENT helmet! Would definitely recommend!!
This helmet is exactly what I was looking for; sporty, lightweight, quiet, and a beautiful fit. This GT Air is the real deal to protect your cranium.
Definitely recommend this product.
The ventilation in this helmet is great, you can actually feel the difference when you open the vents up. The vents themselves are fairly big and easy to use with gloves. Fits well, similar to other Shoei helmets I have owned. The included pinlock takes a little time to get used to looking through, but it's worth it for a shield that never fogs in any conditions. My favorite part is the internal sun visor - it's not really that dark, but it's enough to cut down on irritating glare. Never having to change shields, worry if you'll be out after dark, and not messing with sunglasses is a huge convenience. Not cheap but it's totally worth it.
Just started wearing hope the fit loosens a little. I may need to go with the smaller cheek pads. the XL was to big for the top of my head so I went with the large.
Good fit. Using the size chart I ordered an XL and had to change out the cheek pads to the thinner size. Fits better but believe I should have gotten an XXL.
Love the styling and it's the most aerodynamically stable helmet I've worn yet. Even drafting soccer moms doing their slow thing in the fast lane, it's not affected as much by the buffeting as I'd become used to.
Have spent several thousand miles in it already, including three long duration trips and haven't had any discomfort, hot spots, or neck soreness.
Mounted my Sena SMH10 in about 5 minutes. Mount fits flush with no issues running the speaker wires. Everything about this helmet makes it a great commuter and touring helmet.
Venting is superb, even tempering the hot, humid Alabama summer days. There is a bit of noise heard when the vents are open. I first thought it was just some static in my speakers but after a while, realized it was the upper vents flowing air.
The helmet is very quiet, minus the quiet but audible hiss of venting air at speed and the pinlock system does great at keeping the visor crystal clear (wish it were a couple mm wider).
Only two issues I've had with it:
1. The pinlock system keeps the main visor fog-free however, the internal shaded visor doesn't have this same protection so it can fog over. It's only done this on some of the colder mornings so it hasn't been much of an issue.
2. The pinlock system creates some weird reflections at night. Can be false illusion inducing depending on where you're riding.
The internal shape is biased towards the "Slight Narrow" part of the spectrum, with narrower sides and lots of forehead room in the top.
