Nice pants, but the fit is snug

I was looking for some protected pants that weren't the usual jeans, especially for Texas summer heat. These look to fill the need. Much lighter weight than jeans, yet still have the protection, just in case. Be advised you might want to add a couple of inches to the waist as my normal 33-34 regular jean size makes these a snug fit. Don't be too proud but instead think about the comfort factor!

How do we read the sizing?
I am confused on the sizing options available. The size denotes 38X?? on the end e.g 38X34. What does the number at the end indicate?

The first number is the waist size and the second number is the inseam length.
