D.I.D 525 ZVMX X-Ring Gold Chain - 120 Links:

D.I.D's engineers are continuously improving chain designs in order to handle the tremendous horsepower loads of today's high performance motorcycles. In developing the new DID ZVM-X series, D.I.D focused on "Rigidity." Traditionally, "Tensile Strength" has been the bench-mark to indicate overall strength, but tensile strength is only a laboratory static measurement of a chain's fracture point. Rigidity, on the other hand, is the ability of a chain to withstand the forces that occur in the real world that riders experience. Increased rigidity means better power transfer from the engine to the ground, greater resistance to stretching under load, and overall improved performance that meets the demands of the current high-power bikes and the people who ride them.

  • Increased rigidity for better power transfer and greater resistance to stretching under load.
  • Overall improved performance that meet the demands of the current high-power bikes.
  • Designed to meet requirements of machines bigger than 1000cc.
  • Same excellent characteristics of the ZVM chains, but its new X2-ring design provides 40 percent greater wear resistance and better overall chain life.
  • Average tensile strength of 10,408 pounds.
  • Wear life index: 4000.
  • For use on Superbikes; maximum rated displacement 1300cc.
  • Weight (per 100 links): 4.65 pounds.
  • Includes a rivet-style master link.
  • 120 links.

RK 525 GBXSO X-Ring Gold Race Chain - 120 Links:

The new upgrade GBXSO and non-gold XSO chains features RK's proprietary "RX-Ring" seal design and is offered in 520, 525 and 530 versions. Viewed in cross-section, the RK "RX-Ring" has two lubrication pools and seal points versus the single seal point / pool design of a regular O-ring chain. RK's new GBXSO chains offer quality, performance and unbeatable value, for all but the most demanding high performance applications.

  • High-performing, durable chain that will last five to eight times longer than your standard motorcycle chain.
  • Constructed from polished, shot-peened alloy steel providing high tensile strength for maximum performance.

Sunstar 525 RDG DualGuard Sealed Chain - 120 Links:

Sunstar's heavy duty, street motorcycle chain model is the RDG series (RDG = Road Dual Guard) for 520, 525 and 530 applications. It uses Sunstar's DualGuard sealed ring street bike chain technology where the sealing ring has an 'X' shape - meaning there are two sealing points and two lubrication pools versus the one-sided, single-lip design of a standard O-ring. This sealed ring design type dramatically improves lubricity in high heat conditions while providing lower friction and longer chain life - and it is available for just about every street motorcycle on today's market. It comes in the natural color option and uses a strong rivet-type connecting link. For a higher performance road chain at a non-premium price, the Sunstar RDG answers the bell and is great for everything from everyday commuting to closed course riding.

Best style and finish

I was pleased, for an aluminum sprocket these are super thick and half the weight of the stock sprocket. If you replace your chain and all the sprockets they should last a good long while. Definitely great quality and finish.

Perfect

I recently purchased the 525 pitch to replace the 520 that I'd had for nearly 10k miles. It still had plenty of life but a piece of semi tire chewed the last few thousand out of it. These kits are awesome. I give five stars on everything but ease of install. As for Motosport... I love you guys. I was having issues ordering online so I called. Dave helped me order what I needed and then we were talking about previous rides and scary moments we'd both had. The guys at Motorsport understand riders because they ARE riders... awesome site and people!

So far so good

The only reason I don't rate this product 5 stars is because I just installed it last week, and now I am been asked to rate my purchase ... Well it is too early to say how durable this chain and sprockets will be but the manufacturing on this items seems very high quality, the install was done by my trusted mechanic he said it was easy, he cut the chain to OEM size. Performance is good where the bike feels strong, snappy, very reactive to throtle (the old chain was loose and it could not be adjusted anymore). Good product so far ... hope this helps.

Great product, looks bad assssss

I put these items on my yellow sv650s and the first person that saw the bike after it was done stated " that black vortex sprocket is sick", so yeah its a great product seems to really be solid, easy to install (if your at all decent with a wrench) and it looks great! awesome product. one thing i will mention for the newer riders is that the chain is universal and requires grinding to fit the specific bike, so don't expect to just throw it on there!

The rear black sprocket and gold chain look awesome on my GSXR-600 and added tons of torque off the line. I went down 1 tooth in the front and up 2 teeth in the back to add some torque to my bike.

How can I get more top end out of bike?
have new muffler and I'm adding a power commander, what about sprockets?
MotoSport Staff
Over 10 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Sprockets are a very good way to modify the output of the engine and give more acceleration or top speed. For top speed you can either increase the amount of teeth on the front sprocket or reduce the amount on the rear sprocket.
Top 1000 Contributor
Over 10 months ago Location: Temecula, CA, USA
To make the answer simple, Yes. NOTE: Adding teeth to the FRONT sprocket has the REVERSE effect on acceleration. SUBTRACTING from the front sprocket is the same as ADDING to the rear. The closest ratio I can figure for a 600c (In my case, a Yamaha YZF-R6) is -1 in the front is the same as +2 to the rear.) More teeth on rear sprocket = Faster acceleration, less top end, less fuel economy. Less teeth on rear = Slower acceleration, higher top end, better fuel economy. Also, your chain has a (little) bit to do with this. A 525 chain is heavier (yet more durable), thus, it has more mass for the drive to rotate. A lighter (520) chain will make it a bit easier for the bike to pop off the line, but is less durable. If you are commuting on this bike, I would recommend sticking with the stock 525 pitch. It'll last you much longer. Good luck!

It depends what kind of bike you have. If your looking for more top speed the. You could go down a few teeth on the rear sprocket. If your looking for more power and torque then go up in the rear. I would start in small increments. 650's have less torque than 1 liter bikes so be careful in your choice. Quick acceleration kits are popular for stunting and drag racing.

If going down 1 tooth in the front and up 2 in the rear gives you better acceleration will doing the opposite give you higher top speed?
MotoSport Staff
1 year ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
You don't necessarily need to follow that same ratio, but yes the opposite will have the opposite effect. Down on the countershaft sprocket and up on the rear sprocket for acceleration, and up on the countershaft / down on the rear sprocket for top speed.

Yes, you are correct. Also helps gas mileage. On my 07 R6 I went with 15f and 47r (stock is 16:45) and the bike leapt off the line but with higher rpm and lower top end. The opposite holds true. Good luck!

What the difference between x-ring o-ring etc.?
Expert MotoSport Staff
the x-ring offers more protection than an o-ring, with less drag. which means you won't rob yourself from any lost horsepower.
Top 1000 Contributor
Over 10 months ago Location: Temecula, CA, USA
The difference between X-ring and O-ring is the literal cross-cut shape of the packings in each link of your chain. an o-ring chain is the older-style. It does not retain lubrication as well, as it has no where for the oil to "pool". An X-ring packing, if you examine it closely, looks like it has little grooves in it. These groove catch and retain lubrication, making it more durable in the long run.

Does the DID chain in the 525 Vortex Sprocket & Chain Kit come to fit the bike?
Will you need a chain tool to install, or does the chain come pre-cut to fit the bike.
MotoSport Staff
Over 5 years ago Location: Portland, OR
Since chain length varies from bike to bike all of our chains are cut to fit so most likely you will have to use a chain breaker to cut the chain down.
Top 1000 Contributor
Over 12 months ago Location: Temecula, CA, USA
You'll need a chain breaker to match the number of links you want. Sometimes your local bike shop will cut it for free. If not, the tools are relatively cheap. Good luck!
Top 1000 Contributor
Over 9 months ago Location: Phoenix, AZ, USA
They are not pre cut you will need a chain breaker chain press a rivet tool. These are sold also on Motorsport.com i would suggest to take your chain to a professional if you don't have these tools and experience, for your safety. Improper installation of a chain could be deadly on a motorcycle.
