Normally wear a 10.5 shoe, I found the 45 to be a little large and the 44 to fit good. The white white boots definitely get you noticed (I've had several girls compliment me on them if that's what you're after). Very comfortable and breathable. The right amount of protection and flexibility. Good feeling for shifting and braking. Only problem I've had is the rear of the right boot getting caught on the brake pedal when starting from a stop due to the large opening but probably just takes getting used to

A* S-MX Plus, Great Boot

I did a bunch of research before picking these boots. A* boots are always well reviewed, so it did not seem like I could go wrong. Final choice was between the S-MX 6 and S-MX Plus boots. I liked the price of the S-MX 6 better than the S-MX Plus boots, obviously, but I really wanted the extra ankle protection on the Plus boots. I stepped up to top of the line MX boots after breaking my ankle while wearing cheap MX boots, so did not want to cheap out on road boots. The Plus boots have ankle support on both sides of the boot (support is only on one side of the S-MX 6 boots), and there is padded ankle support sewn into the inside the boot. The boots are snug getting in and out, but I can't imagine a more comfortable boot when they are on. All day comfort without a doubt. The boots come up to the lower part of my calf and straight leg jeans fit over the boots easily. Not sure about long term durability yet, but the boots appear to be really well made, and I have had no issue so far.

My Summer race boot of choice!

Like all Alpinestars footwear, they fit a bit narrow for their size. That's good, because so do my feet. All of the plastic bracing and armor on these boots, as well as the long and thick toe sliders make you look as goofy as any other race gear, but I'll say from experience that it all serves good purpose. After two crashes at the track, one low speed, the other high speed, I owe the health of my heels and ankles to these boots. All of that plastic bracing around the ankles really does its job well, without getting in your way. The copious perforation of these boots allows a tremendous amount of foot-drying air to prevent that horrible Swamp Foot. The massive toe sliders are great to have, as I tend to burn through the thinner sliders on the S-MX 5 in a single race. These hang together for a full weekend. The down side to the sliders on these boots, is that Alpinestars does not make a magnesium replacement for them, like they do for the S-MX 5 and Supertech R.

Boot fitting

with these boots I had to take out the shin protector out of my alpine stars track pants and pull up the leg past the inner boot so the boot can fully zip closed

I like these boots. the air vents work really well.

Q: Is this boot a darker shade of black than the non-vented version?

Based on the photos, the S-MX Plus Vented Boots appears to be a darker shade of black and more glossy compared to the non-vented version. Is this true?

A: No, the Alpinestars S-MX Plus Vented Boots are the same shade of black on either the vented or the non-vented. The lighting in the photo may make it look slightly different but they are the same.
