Alpinestars Bionic S 2 Jacket

I am a 44yr old BMX racer. I race once a week, & gave this chest back protector a run last Wed. evening. For the size I had selected the 2XL because I am a 5'-10" 220 male w/ a 46-1/2" chest. I have a muscular build, and It fits tight when zipping up, but I did not even notice it was on while racing BMX that evening. I had full mobility, and the ergonomics of this chest/back/shoulder protector are great! Right after completing a BMX moto I removed my jersey & opened the zipper down the front to cool down. The zipper down the front also helps when your all sweaty trying to take it off. I like the removable back because when it gets wet from sweat you just unzip it, & take it off so it can dry out after the races. The kidney belt is comfortable & keeps the rest of the unit in place. I like the short sleeves so I can stay a little cooler during practice laps, and use my preferece of elbow/forearm pads in moto's. There are only two small cons to this product. One is the back protector goes down low enough to protect your tail bone. So the back protector has to remain outside your moto pants preventing you from tucking in your jersey. I like to tuck in my jersey for moto's, but that may not be a problem for others. Cleaning is the other con because you can't throw it in washer. Some of the material is like a neoprene blend that absorbs sweat. I don't know when it's going to stink but I'm sure after a full summer of BMX racing it will. I am not commenting on durability at this time because I have only raced with it once, so no stars in that catagory. This is a great product, & will save you some serious lumps on a good digger.
