Product Description

Vortex Sprocket:

  • With the Vortex® sprocket and chain kit you can expect race quality and killer street looks.
  • The Vortex® black aluminum rear sprocket will not only make your motorcycle look faster, it will increase your motorcycle's acceleration by reducing the rotating mass. In addition to quicker acceleration, reduced rotating mass also translates into quicker braking and better handling.
  • Vortex® makes their front sprockets out of high quality stainless steel that has been drilled to save weight.
  • The Vortex® rear sprocket has been anodized black for a durable finish and non-stock look. Constructed of the highest quality 7075 T6 aluminum maximizes durability and weight savings.
  • Vortex® uses a CNC machining process to ensure the tightest tolerances and reduced chain drag.
  • Match these Vortex® sprockets up with a RK or DID chain for the ultimate combo on your motorcycle.

RK Chain:

  • All RK Sealed O-ring type chains feature heat treated hi-carbon alloy steel components with seamless rollers and shouldered bushings, and are fitted with a variety of O-ring seal designs.
  • All RK O-ring seals are made from an advanced Nitrile Butadiene composite for maximum performance and wearlife.

D.I.D Chain:

  • D.I.D's Patented X-Ring construction reduces friction by twisting between the side plates instead of being squashed. Normal O-Rings and other makers' modified O-Rings have squashed points that increase friction. The twisting action of the X-Ring disperses the pressure and minimizes power loss.
  • The X-Ring's four contact points greatly increase its sealing performance. This keeps the dirt out and the lubrication in much better than any other O-Ring. X-Rings have the greatest wear resistance of any other type of O-Ring or Non-O-Ring chain.

Sunstar Chain:

  • This non-sealed, cost effective O.E.M. replacement Heavy Duty chain offers zero compromise in performance and/or reliability.
  • Great choice for any off road motorcycle up to 250cc.
  • Durable and strong with a tensile strength rating of 7,850 pounds.

Perfect
I recently purchased the 525 pitch to replace the 520 that I'd had for nearly 10k miles. It still had plenty of life but a piece of semi tire chewed the last few thousand out of it. These kits are awesome. I give five stars on everything but ease of install. As for Motosport... I love you guys. I was having issues ordering online so I called. Dave helped me order what I needed and then we were talking about previous rides and scary moments we'd both had. The guys at Motorsport understand riders because they ARE riders... awesome site and people!

So far so good
The only reason I don't rate this product 5 stars is because I just installed it last week, and now I am been asked to rate my purchase ... Well it is too early to say how durable this chain and sprockets will be but the manufacturing on this items seems very high quality, the install was done by my trusted mechanic he said it was easy, he cut the chain to OEM size. Performance is good where the bike feels strong, snappy, very reactive to throtle (the old chain was loose and it could not be adjusted anymore). Good product so far ... hope this helps.

Great product, looks bad assssss
I put these items on my yellow sv650s and the first person that saw the bike after it was done stated " that black vortex sprocket is sick", so yeah its a great product seems to really be solid, easy to install (if your at all decent with a wrench) and it looks great! awesome product. one thing i will mention for the newer riders is that the chain is universal and requires grinding to fit the specific bike, so don't expect to just throw it on there!

VORTEX SPROCKET & CHAIN KIT 525 - BLACK
The rear black sprocket and gold chain look awesome on my GSXR-600 and added tons of torque off the line. I went down 1 tooth in the front and up 2 teeth in the back to add some torque to my bike.

If going down 1 tooth in the front and up 2 in the rear gives you better acceleration will doing the opposite give you higher top speed?
MotoSport Staff
1 month 28 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
You don't necessarily need to follow that same ratio, but yes the opposite will have the opposite effect. Down on the countershaft sprocket and up on the rear sprocket for acceleration, and up on the countershaft / down on the rear sprocket for top speed.

Yes, you are correct. Also helps gas mileage. On my 07 R6 I went with 15f and 47r (stock is 16:45) and the bike leapt off the line but with higher rpm and lower top end. The opposite holds true. Good luck!

What is the standard sprocket size(s) for 2005 GSXR600?
MotoSport Staff
Over 3 years ago Location: P+RTLAND
Standard was a size 525 16 front and a 45 rear. Verify your sizes currently being ran to make sure you are still stock if that's what you want to keep.

What the difference between x-ring o-ring etc.?
Expert MotoSport Staff
the x-ring offers more protection than an o-ring, with less drag. which means you won't rob yourself from any lost horsepower.

Does the DID chain in the 525 Vortex Sprocket & Chain Kit come to fit the bike?
Will you need a chain tool to install, or does the chain come pre-cut to fit the bike.
MotoSport Staff
Over 4 years ago Location: Portland, OR
Since chain length varies from bike to bike all of our chains are cut to fit so most likely you will have to use a chain breaker to cut the chain down.
Top 1000 Contributor
1 month 4 days ago Location: Temecula, CA, USA
You'll need a chain breaker to match the number of links you want. Sometimes your local bike shop will cut it for free. If not, the tools are relatively cheap. Good luck!

How do I let you know that I want a 46T instead of what is listed in the options.?
I want the VORTEX SPROCKET & CHAIN KIT 525 SILVER FITS 1998 HONDA CBR900RR The description says there are several sizes of sprockets available , Rear sprocket sizes available from 39T to 50T. Front sprocket sizes available from 14T to 18T. I can select the 15T front from the drop down menu, but there is no way to select a 46T rear. What do I need to do to insure I get the -1+3 setup?
MotoSport Staff Expert
Over 4 years ago Location: PDX
The sprockets listed in the drop down box are what is usually stocked. If you would like something other then what is listed you would need you to call in.
