D.I.D 520 ZVMX Series X-Ring Gold Chain - 120 Links:

D.I.D's engineers are continuously improving chain designs in order to handle the tremendous horsepower loads of today's high performance motorcycles. In developing the new DID ZVM-X series, D.I.D focused on "Rigidity." Traditionally, "Tensile Strength" has been the bench-mark to indicate overall strength, but tensile strength is only a laboratory static measurement of a chain's fracture point. Rigidity, on the other hand, is the ability of a chain to withstand the forces that occur in the real world that riders experience. Increased rigidity means better power transfer from the engine to the ground, greater resistance to stretching under load, and overall improved performance that meets the demands of the current high-power bikes and the people who ride them.

  • Increased rigidity for better power transfer and greater resistance to stretching under load.
  • Overall improved performance that meet the demands of the current high-power bikes.
  • Designed to meet requirements of machines bigger than 1000cc.
  • Same excellent characteristics of the ZVM chains, but its new X2-ring design provides 40 percent greater wear resistance and better overall chain life.
  • Average tensile strength of 8,745 pounds.
  • Wear life index: 3500.
  • For use on Superbikes; maximum rated displacement 1200cc.
  • Weight (per 100 links): 3.59 pounds.
  • Includes a rivet-style master link.
  • 120 links.

RK 520 GBXSO X-Ring Gold Race Chain - 120 Links:

As part of their continuing quality improvement program, the RK Chain Factory has made a running production upgrade to their best selling 520XSO chain. The new upgrade GBXSO and non-gold XSO chains features RK's proprietary "RX-Ring" seal design and is offered in 520, 525 and 530 versions. Viewed in cross-section, the RK "RX-Ring" has two lubrication pools and seal points versus the single seal point / pool design of a regular O-ring chain. RK's new GBXSO chains offer quality, performance and unbeatable value, for all but the most demanding high performance applications.

  • High-performing, durable chain that will last five to eight times longer than your standard motorcycle chain.
  • Constructed from polished, shot-peened alloy steel providing high tensile strength for maximum performance.
  • RK RX-ring seals are made from an advanced Nitrile Butadiene composite for maximum performance and wear life.
  • Side plate treatment helps prevent corrosion.

Sunstar 520 Road DualGuard Sealed Chain - 120 Links:

Sunstar's heavy duty, street motorcycle chain model is the RDG series (RDG = Road Dual Guard) for 520, 525 and 530 applications. It uses Sunstar's DualGuard sealed ring street bike chain technology where the sealing ring has an 'X' shape - meaning there are two sealing points and two lubrication pools versus the one-sided, single-lip design of a standard O-ring. This sealed ring design type dramatically improves lubricity in high heat conditions while providing lower friction and longer chain life - and it is available for just about every street motorcycle on today's market. It comes in the natural color option and uses a strong rivet-type connecting link. For a higher performance road chain at a non-premium price, the Sunstar RDG answers the bell and is great for everything from everyday commuting to closed course riding.

  • Features Sunstar's DG-ring (DualGuard) design for better performance and durability.
  • Great choice for any type of street use; perfect choice for high-performance riding but at a non-premium price.
  • Only available in a Natural finish.
  • Average tensile strength of 8,500 pounds.
  • Maximum rated displacement (street / off-road): 750cc / 750cc.
  • Weight (per 100 links): 3.36 pounds.
  • Includes rivet-style master link.
  • 120 links.

Sunstar 520 RTG1 Works TripleGuard Sealed Racing Chain - 120 Links:

For a top of the line, premium-level road racing chain, Sunstar offers the RTG1 series - Sunstar's highest performing road racing chain - for 520 and 530 street applications (RTG1 = Road Triple Guard). This Works level chain features the TripleGuard sealed ring technology where there are 3 sealing lips and lubrication pools on each side of the ring to maintain top performance in high heat, extreme conditions; the TripleGuard ring type is the best for lubrication and protection. Both the 520 and 530 are available in pre-cut lengths and come in the gold color option (gold outer and inner plates). While the 520 is great for any bike 1000cc or less which already uses a 520 pitch, the 530RTG1 is suitable for the high-performance, larger displacement machines like the Suzuki Hayabusa, Kawasaki ZX-14R Ninja and others in the same class that use 530 pitch. Both options use the rivet-type connecting link and are well suited to handle the demands of the toughest racing conditions encountered on the street.

  • Utilizes exclusive TG-ring (TripleGuard) for the ultimate in heat prevention and lubricity even in extremely harsh conditions.
  • Assembled of the best 100% heat treated components.
  • Extremely strong, yet also in a lightweight design - weighing just over 4 pounds per 100 links.
  • Only available in Gold finish.
  • Average tensile strength of 8,760 pounds.
  • Maximum rated displacement (street / off-road): 1000cc / 750cc.
  • Weight (per 100 links): 4.30 pounds.
  • Includes rivet-style master link.
  • 120 links.

Vortex 520 MV3 Black SX / MX Racing Chain - 120 Links:

For more than 15 years, U.S.-based Vortex Racing continues to manufacture, market and sell top-quality motorcycle racing components for Motocross, Supercross, Road Racing, Flat Track Racing and Minibikes. Owned and operated by motorcycle racers and enthusiasts, they focus on absolute quality. Each of their race components is made to the tightest tolerances with the best quality materials in the industry. Vortex tests on the track with direct feedback from top professional race teams worldwide. Vortex parts have been put to the test by some of the world's most respected champions and teams.

  • Average tensile strength of 9,000 pounds.
  • Maximum rated displacement (street / off-road): NA / 500cc.
  • Includes clip-style master link.
  • 120 links.
  • Note: Non-sealed chains require more regular maintenance than sealed (O-ring, X-ring) versions and are mainly recommended for off-road use.

Vortex 520 SV3 Black Street / Roadrace Chain - 120 Links:

  • Duo Glide seal design reduces heat and friction resulting in a 7 times longer wear life than a standard O-ring chain.
  • Average tensile strength of 8,500 pounds.
  • Maximum rated displacement (street / off-road): 750cc / NA.
  • Includes rivet-style master link.
  • 120 links.

Vortex 520 RV3 Black Street / Roadrace Chain - 120 Links:

  • Tri Glide seal provides 3 pockets of lubrication and two stabilizers ultimately reducing heat, friction, and increasing wear life by as much as 10 times over standard O-ring chains.
  • Average tensile strength of 8,800 pounds.
  • Maximum rated displacement (street / off-road): 1000cc / NA.
  • Includes rivet-style master link.
  • 120 links.

Note for installing X-ring chains: As X-ring chains are wider than standard roller chains, when fitting an X-ring chain to a motorcycle that was fitted with a non O-ring chain as original equipment, it is essential to check that there is proper clearance of the engine cases near the countershaft sprocket and any other places of close contact. Failure to do so could result in damage to the chain and motorcycle and could ultimately cause the chain to fail.

ALLOUT Performance!

I've had nothing but great experiences using the Vortex sprockets as I've always had since using them on my CBR F2/F3 track bike. I knew that once I got my Suzi GSX-R 750 that this would be one of the 1st upgrades I would make for street duty. & just when I thought I couldn't be more satisfied I soon found myself elated by the performance enhancement as the Vortex sprockets are now complimented by the RK-Gold 520 chain. Bottom-end is effortless in the hole-shot as mid-range power is just as responsive. I honestly can not feel much if any loss @ the top of the power band at all. As I said before, I'm elated & couldn't be happier w/ this upgrade & overall service of MotoSport.com. Definite recommendation & ALLOUT stamp of approval on both product & vendor. To say that this upgrade is thrilling is an understatement in my opinion. It's intoxicatingly euphoric as the thrills keep coming!

What a difference!

Wow! My 05 Ninja 636R is like a totally different bike now. She has torque! For some reason the front tire doesn't want to stay on the ground in the first two gears! I was already running Vortex sprockets and chains but on this purchase I went up 3 teeth and down one in the front. Had to remove 5 links from the chain but that was simple enough. Fast shipping too! (3 Days) Love it, very happy customer right here.

By far the best upgrade you can do to transform a bikes power. Feels like 15 hp added. I did 1 dwn tooth in the front and 2 up in the back and it gves such a great amout of torque to the rear wheel. Top end is sacrificed but I don't do 160 on the highways anymore. Torque in the turns is much more fun.

Good kit

Sprockets were good. Mounted up like every other sprocket. Fit perfectly on my track bike. Can't say that it made me any faster, but now it is much easier to change gear ratios with different sprocket options.

This set is a great deal! You know everything is compatible and the aluminum rear sprocket weighs less than the smaller front sprocket. I have purchased a few Vortex products for my bike, and I'm extremely pleased with all of them. I've had the chain and sprockets on now for 5 months. I haven't needed to adjust the chain and the black sprocket still looks great.

Great product

Great kit I really like the black sprocket. I didn't like the stock grease on the chain it flew off everywhere and is a pain to clean off. But it came off with the cleaner from the Grunge Brush also on this site.

What is best set up for better low end power?
I have a stock 2012 r6
MotoSport Staff Expert
1 month ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
You can achieve more low-end performance by going to a smaller front sprocket and a larger rear sprocket. For your Yamaha R6 the combination that is going to give you the most low end pull would be a 14 tooth front sprocket and a 50 tooth rear. Please note that going to this combination will increase your acceleration but will also lower your top speed.

Whats a light but excellent chain and sprocket package ?
I'm looking into lighten my 2004 Kawasaki ZX 636 I want a lighter chain and some good sprockets ?
MotoSport Staff
4 months 12 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Any of the aluminum 520 kits such as this Vortex kit will be much lighter than the stock chains and sprockets. Vortex is great brand as is very popular. Also the Sunstar brand is who the OEM's rely on for their stock sprockets and they make a great product also. All of the chains will weigh close enough to the same that you wont feel a difference. The higher end chains typically just wont stretch as much due to their higher tensile strengths.

I have a 97 ninja ex500 what can I do to make it faster for drag and to stunt?
MotoSport Staff
1 year 1 month ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Well, since "drag" and "stunt" need opposing gear ratios for you to benefit, you would need to pick which setup you would want most. For top speed, a smaller sprocket or larger counter-shaft sprocket will help with that. For quick acceleration, you would need a larger rear sprocket or smaller front.

im making my 09 gsxr into a track bike. whats a good set up for the track?

If you're asking about the best gearing you'll need to ask someone with the same/similar bike who rides the same track. There are so many variables I couldn't answer that for you.

it depends on the track. find out what people are using at your local track and go from there. it is also going to depend on the bike and personal preference.

I want a bigger and bulkier look on my chain and sprocket,it says 525 on the chain but someone there told me to get the 525 .is it the 520 i need?
MotoSport Staff Expert
Over 3 years ago Location: Portland, OR
We really need to know what bike you have, but a larger, bulkier chain than a 525 would be a 530. 530 chain and sprockets may or may not fit on your bike because they will be thicker than the 525.

I have a Yamaha 2009 YZF-R6. I want more bottom and middle end so what kind of set-up should I get?
Expert MotoSport Staff
Over 4 years ago Location: Portland, OR
A larger sprocket in the back will increase your bottom end. It will take a little experimentation to get it dialed, you may want to start by increasing the back by 2 or 3 teeth.

I went with a -1 Front and +3 Rear. I got tremendous improvement on my low and mid. I would go with that. Anything more and it will be hard to keep the front wheel down. Also you will lose some off your top speed. I would also recommend installing a speedo healer. If not your speedometer will be off by 8-10 mph.

I am looking to stunt my bike out but still ride down the freeway I have a 03 zx 6r?
if i go down one tooth in front and up about 6 teeth in the back would this be to much
Top 500 Contributor
Over 4 years ago Location: Altoona, Pa
All depends on what your gearing is now and what results you're looking for. Generally with stunting your're going to want to go up quite a bit in the rear. If you're going to be riding 100% slow wheelies and what not, you may want to go a little more, but keep in mind you're top speed will be increased. Best bet is to buy a few front sprockets as well. Rule of thumb is that 1 tooth on the front sprocket is equal to about 4 or 5 on the rear.

You'll definitely be pushing your rpms a lot higher, you'll also want to get a speedo tuner so your speedometer will be accurate. http://www.motosport.com/motorcycle/search/?words=speedo%20tner

What do i order?
I have a 00 r1 how many teeth do i need on the rear sprocket for a guiker ride and how many links in the chain
MotoSport Staff
Over 4 years ago Location: P+RTLAND
If you want your bike to be a little quicker the best thing to do is see what size sprocket you have on now on the rear and go up a tooth or two. Doing this will take away a little bit of your top end speed but will add more bottom end pulling power. Another way to do it would be to go down a tooth on the front sprocket. This will have the same effect.
