Needs some more engineering for mount

I had these on for about 10 minutes when my blade tripped forward and it nearly pulled the mounting bolts through my Moose 55" straight blade.

2 days later I hit a drift, and the shield came right off. The shield itself is awesome. Very strong, very good quality shield. The manufacturer needs to fire their tester though, this shield is virtually useless in it's present configuration.

If you add a bracket to the bottom and use the cutting edge bolt, and add a bracket to the top using a bolt from the rubber flap (if you have one), you won't have a problem. I currently have installed two homemade brackets that add a HUGE amount of strength to the shield and blade. I also got some thick washers for the two existing bolts.

Overall the shields are awesome. I can move snow 3 times as fast when I don't worry about as much spillage. I can still wing the snow fairly well, though the shields to get in the way and the snow doesn't get thrown as far.

Overall I recommend it, but just do the reinforcing prior to use. If you KNEW that you would never take your shields off, you could probably weld them on and not have any issues.

after blade tripped forward while plowing, left (from driver) side shield bent inward while right side shield bent outward.
literally pulled the bolts through the plow. Here it is nearly through, held on for a couple days and then it just fell off.

Good Sturdy Shield

I have these on both ends of my utv plow. They work great. When drilling the holes to mount the shield, make sure the holes are drilled "exactly" in the places the instructions tells you to put them. I drilled one hole a little bit off and I ended up drilling a bigger hole so the bolts would line up with the shield. The shield is made of heavy gauge metal so it doesn't bend. They keep the snow contained in front of the plow but will also let snow roll off the end of the blade if you angle the plow when there's lots of snow and the blade gets full.

Side Shield info

First you should know that it mounts at a slight angle out and away from the blade and not at 90 degrees. It mounts with 2 bolts and was not hard to do. After using it one time I found it was made so well that it bent the plow blade. You have to be very gentle with it and not hit the snow banks too hard or push really heavy snow or its going to beat up the plow blade. Maybe it should come with some kind of metal backing washer for the bolts to spread the load out over a larger area and not just bolt heads. Worked ok. Some snow still fell out the side as it isnt that long. The picture looks bigger than it actually is.
