Go to tire...

I would not say this tire works great anywhere but work good everywhere. reversible tire and last longer then some of the others. I will put a few rides on a tire and then flip it and have sharp edges again for a few more rides. If your on a budget and dont mind doing the work, You can make this tire last a bit longer then others...

awesome all around tire I use MS3 because of the the harder compound for longevity of tire wear but tire is awesome from soft sand to hard packed clay killer traction

All Star MS3

I ride a 2012 KX450F. This is the 3rd MS3 that I have purchased and it is well worth the money, which is usually cheaper than Dunlop anyway. I ride mostly Arizona motocross tracks. This tire is perfect the deap loamy (or deep wet) dirt at the beginning of the day and is solid through out the day. Hard pack slick is not so great, so as always be careful on watered jump faces and landings. This tire is much better than the MX51 as far as traction and durabability. The corners stay more square longer and when they do start to round, you can flip the tire so you have square edges for several more rides. Don't hesitate to give this tire a try. You may just find it to be the go to tire. Also, tell your riding buddies to stay in front of you unless they want the worst roosting of their life.

MS3 for Florida riding

We have mostly sand, loam, limestone, and roots. Our tires get off easy; the most important attribute is drive (traction). These things rip. Big nobbies, profile is slightly rounded, reversible - so you get a nice sharp corner by flipping the tire over on the rim. They hold up well, the carcass is perfect on my 450, just a little stiff on my 250 2 stroke. Best all around tire for Florida Hare Scrambles and Enduros.

Michelin Mud/Sand tire

Awesome tire that digs in under all conditions. Bought it for mud Hare Scrambles but run it for all conditions. AA guys catch me just before a bad long mud pull and I actually have Youtube passing them struggling in the mud. They pass right back by after the mud but it feels real good plowing by them.

Off the hook traction.

This product is top notch. The side walls are strong and make putting the tire on the rim alittle tougher that normal but well worth the extra effort. I am a trail rider and the traction of this tire is off the hook. This is my third Michelin Starcross MS3 I have had on my 07 CRF450R. Love them. In fact my riding buddy bought one for his 08 CRF450R and says he wishes he would have bought one sooner. He was getting tired of me jumping ahead of him coming out of the corners. LOL

This tire looks sick it will last you forever depending on you're riding conditions if you just ride on soft terrain and just stick with a track it will last you forever but if you ride on alot of hard packed terrain and pavement it will not last long i do a lot of riding around town so its alot of street and hard packed stuff and it eats through the tire but i have a friend who has his own track and only rides on tracks and he has had his for two years now and it still in very good shape

This is a great tire! Dosent chunk on the rocks of snowshoe and will find traction on the hard pack sections of the John Penton. Consistant turning characteristics too.

HOOK UP!!!!!!

Great tire i race MAXC and KCCR series works great on kx 250. Give it try i think you will really like it.

paducah, ky

Very good traction on soft and loamy tracks wears good if you stay on those tracks if you trail ride at a place with a lot of rocks you will be missing at least 6 knobs by the end of the day

Best tire

This is the best tire i've found for use in MX conditions in Arizona. The track starts out tilled and loamy in morning and gets hard pack in afternoon. I run the MS3 and it works the best for me. I like the reversible tread too, flip em and square edge is back for a few more rides.

Mud/sand tire

they work like glue in thick messy conditions, and as far as ware, i have a year and 2 months on this combo with the front and im a B rider. but in hard pack and dry days they def do slide out on you quite bit but needing a deep tire that doesnt ware this is the tire setup u want!

i had actually ordered mh3 we were sent ms3 still a good tire but on a yz250 and hard track started ripping lugs off after one week I would recomend mh3 over the ms3 but if you track conditions are not hard theese would work my son is a very aggressive rider also.

Best mx tire out there

I have tried several intermediate terrain mx tires, including the geomax mx51 and this tire is the best tire I have ever run, HANDS DOWN! It is great in all terrain. It is predictable, wears well, and grips like no other. I have to give the ms3 credit for the many holeshots I've pulled too. Its just a great tire. And lasts alot longer than the mx51.

Q: Ms3 or Mh3?
2 years 6 months ago
I have to ride a little bit of road to get to my favorite riding spot, which tire would hold up better the ms3 or mh3?

A: I would say the MH3 would hold up better on the road as it is made for Medium to Hard Terrain.

Q: MS3 OR MH3!!??
I'm ridding the mh3s right now.. I ride a lot of tracks but when i do ride trails i always seem to be missing a lot of rubber chunks out of my tire. If i switched to the ms3 would they not chunk? Our trails are super hard and rocky!
A: Ive had the same experience with these tires, here in AZ because of rocks and etc.
I love the starcross tread because they hook up great but i think the widely spaced knobs make it really easy to chunk out
check out the maxxis desert IT for trail and any riding outside of the track they hook up great even at the track and are the best wearing tire i know of

Q: What would happen if i started running a 110?

A: with my YZ450 07 I went from 110 to 120 and it was hitting my exhaust, (just slightly rubbing against it) you could try and get some spacers to move the exhaust further away.

you definitely do get more traction though

A: I will also add that going with a wider tire will cause the rear end to track differently. Some say they like it, and well, some say they don't.
Q: If im running a 120 rear tire and i go to a 110 wat will the diference in handling be?

Q: What does the number 110 mean in the size?
What is the difference in 110 and 100? and will they both fit on 19 inch 250f rims?
MotoSport Staff Expert
Over 7 years ago Location: Portland, OR
A: 110 represents the width of the tire. Typically a 250 2stroke/ 450 4stroke use a 110 and the 125/250f use a 100. but you can run a 110 on a 125/250f rim, but the tire tracking may be a little different and might take some getting used to.
