A Royal Enfield is not a road burner. I have ridden a variety of machines over the nearly 50 years I've been on motorcycles, on a lot of different tires, from the old Yamaha 305 to Harley's, dirt bikes, a lot of Honda's, and one very good little 550 Suzuki two stroke triple. Some of these were road burners, some just a lot of fun. The Royal Enfield falls somewhere in the middle as a reliable multi - purpose machine that does a lot of things very well - as long as it doesn't require sustained speeds of over 60 MPH. It is a tough little 500, and will cruise all day giving you over 80 mpg on the highway, and handles well on the dirt roads as well - making it a very good partner on a picnic for my Wife and I. This tire has performed very well under these conditions, and on the highway the bike feels much more stable, in fact more like a much larger machine. But the one thing the Royal Enfield does very well is dig her claws into the asphalt on a corner - I love cornering this bike. Her balance and torque make it very comfortable on a twisting road or hard corner - but with these Metzelers she's gone to a new level. For a multi - purpose bike to handle this well gives a confidence and comfort that has proven well worth the price of the tires. I'm not a wild, crazy rider - but I still love to stuff a good machine into any corner I can - safely. These Metzelers with some common sense can do a very good job of keeping you alive for another great day of riding. Just do the speed limit, wear the safety gear (yes, that includes the "skid lid") - and watch out for the other guy. You're only as safe as you are distant from the point of impact. - WKD
