Acceptable

I have two dirt bikes. A cr125 and a crf450. I have a clymer manual for my 450 but didn't see clymer for the 125 so I bought the oem manual. The manual isn't bad but the clymer manual I have for my 450 shows the proper order of the steps as well. For instance when I split the cases of each bike, the clymer manual told me exactly where to start and what the next step should be. The oem manual only showed me how to do things and gave no order for the steps to be done.

Everyone needs one.....

I am a new hobbyist and the OEM Service manual has saved me lots of time and money. I feel everyone needs one for each different bike they own. A must have for any bike or style of bike. Sometimes shops mislead customers but one thing is for sure. A manual will not mislead you. If the task is over your head then go to a shop and know what to expect or should expect. I have one of these manuals for each bike I own.

OEM Honda Manual

This is the book from Mother Honda, so it can't be beaten as far as validity and accuracy. My only gripe (and reason I gave four instead of five stars) is that some of the images are aren't very sharp and clear. Diagrams are perfect, but photos aren't. Minor gripe, but still. Good piece of mind to have the OEM manual. Motosport had the best price I could find.

Crazy this is poor

I threw mine away once I got the Clymer manual. It does a poor job giving details. Don't get rid of the supplement...that is important.

A 'MUST HAVE" for every dirt bike owner

This manual will enable even a little old lady who has never owned/worked on a dirt bike to troubleshoot, repair and even rebuild it to make it run like it did when it was brand new. The troubleshooting guide is invaluable. The tool list is very heipful. The easy to follow instructions have pictures and the diagrams show and name every part needed down to the washers. Makes it possible to take it apart and put it back together, and VERY helpful when shopping for parts to know which category to search on websites. When you get it running right, the periodic maintenance guide will help you keep it that way. It contains everything you need to know, even the things you didn't know you needed to know.

Yes, this service manual for your 2003 Prairie 650 would have the information for working on the wetbrake system. This is the same manual that technicians at the Kawasaki service centers use for reference.

How do you time the servo on a 450 4WD kodiak 03?
i can make it go in but will not go into dif lock and will not come back out of 4WD

Unfortunately I do not have access to OEM service manuals to take a look at the correct procedure for installing the servo motor. I would recommend calling your local Yamaha dealership and speaking with the service department for an issue this involved. Another option would be to purchase the OEM service manual which will outline the complete procedure on installation of the 4wd servo motor.

Does service manual cover splitting cases & changing crank?
MotoSport Staff
2 years 2 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
MotoSportExpert
Yes, the OEM service manuals will fully cover splitting the cases and changing the crank. These are the same manuals that the technicians at the dealerships use and will contain all of the tolerances and torque tables for the whole bike including the engine. In addition they will show all of the special tools that may be required for certain portions of the bike when performing maintenance duties or repairing the bike.

Yes there is, the owners manual just gives you the basics on normal maintenance where a service manual breaks down pretty much everything.

Yes. The service manual is what you need to troubleshoot, repair, rebuild and maintain your bike.
