10 years of pushing the envelope, of going above and beyond. A decade of creating technologically advanced products designed by and for the needs of the street rider: you. The Airmada? is the end result of all of Icon's hard-earned experience in an industry that doesn't tolerate second best. This is Icon's highest evolution of helmet craftsmanship and you'll realize this from the moment you take off.

The first thing you'll notice is the new low profile shell, which now comes in four separate sizes to better fit a variety of riders. The energy absorbing dual-density EPS liner uses the rider-preferred oval head form and comes in a further five sizes to offer a personalized fit without an ounce of wasted space. The effort to reduce the helmet size combines with the tough polycarbonate shell to create a helmet that fits better, is ridiculously light, and still maintains the exclusive ALL WORLD STANDARD of Icon to suit your riding style.

With fit and function in mind, the designers of the Airmada? focused on bringing rider comfort to a new level. The Airmada? keeps you cool when the pace heats up. The SuperVent? system has been completely revamped with even more effective ventilation and exhaust porting across the helmet. The new Ventral Primary? intake improves the Airmada's? cooling airflow in ways other helmets can only dream of, and long nights were spent improving the ergonomics and function of the venting controls. Designed and positioned to make on-the-fly adjustments quick and easy, the Airmada? is built from the ground up to offer perfect comfort for any riding condition.

Even the shield system has been completely redesigned to give riders the best view of the road ahead. The new Rapid Release? shield removal system allows you to change an Icon Optics? shield in a fraction of a second. This cutting-edge system allows you to select the right shield for the conditions, all of which produce an unrivaled distortion-free line of sight to what lies ahead.

The Icon® Airmada? once again sets the standard for the ideal street helmet.

  • All world standard, meets or exceeds the following: DOT FMVSS 218 (US), ECE 22-05 (EUROPE), SAI AS1698 (AUSTRALIA) and SG (JAPAN) Safety and Testing Standards.
  • Injection-molded polycarbonate shell for strength and durability.
  • Recessed twin channel Supervent? with industry-leading intake and exhaust ports for increased cooling.
  • Fog-free Icon Optics? shield with Prolock? shield locking system.
  • Adjustable chin and forehead venting system maintains continual temperature for increased comfort in any riding situation.
  • Rapid Release? shield change system.
  • Removable molded breath deflector helps prevent fogging.
  • Fully removable washable Hydradry? moisture wicking interior.
  • Easy-adjust ergo vent switch for superior air flow control.
  • Available in four shell sizes with an Icon exclusive long oval headform for ultimate fit and comfort.

Awesome Buy

Helmet fits awesome and does what's necessary. Little snug when I put it on and take it off but that doesn't bother me. Love how lightweight it is. Get it in the matte black, you won't be disappointed.

First Helmet

Found out that I have a tiny head, but that still needed to be protected while out on the road. I feel very safe because of the features, level of protection and a perfect fit. Very happy with my first purchase!

Love the helmet

Helmet fits very well especially after I have broken it in. It is a little difficult to get the helmet on and off because of the bottom piece, but this also keeps a lot of the wind and noise out. I haven't got to test the ventilation to its full potential because it hasn't been warm enough, but so far it has worked perfectly. The visor is also pretty easy to change and the helmet looks fantastic. I would recommend this helmet.

Great helmet

I recently had a cheap hjc helmet. So this one was a big upgrade. It fits nice and snug for an extra large. It has the lid lock which is great. Ive drove my bike four times with this helmet as of this writing and no problems to report. Def worth it!

Ventilation?
Which helmet has better ventilation? Airframe, or Miranda?
Expert MotoSport Staff

MotoSportExpert
Both flow pretty well actually, but when it comes down to it the Airmada out flows the Airframe. Plus it's a better fitting lid and a quieter (personal opinion). The Airmada has an extra vent right above the shield that increases the flow quite a bit over the Airframe.

Standard stickers that will come on the helmet?
I know that the AS1698 sticker will not be on the helmet but other than the DOT will it come with the ECE? In Australia it has become legal as long as the ECE is displayed.

The helmet may need to be purchased in Australia for it to have the Australian Standard Sticker on the back. The Helmet will show on the inside label that it meets or exceeds SAI AS1698 (AUSTRALIA).

Does this come with an AS1698 certification sticker if shipped to Australia?
The description does say this helmet meets or exceeds AS1698. But by law a helmet worn in Australia must have the AS1698 sticker.

No, the Icon Airmada Helmet will not come with the AS1698 certification sticker if purchased from an Icon dealer in the US. You will have to purchase the helmet from an Icon dealer in Australia.

Would I have to get a separate shield for night riding?
If I were to drive to work I would use the dark shield, but I don't get off work till after 10:00 pm. Would I have to get a different shield or does this one change to a clear one when there isn't much light out??
MotoSport Staff

MotoSportExpert
For this helmet you would need to purchase a separate clear shield for riding at night. Unfortunately this is not a light sensitive shield and does not change shade based on lighting condition. With icons new shield system, shield changes are quick and easy allowing you to change shields to match the conditions your are riding in.

MEASURING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Measure your head size. To do this, pass a tape measure horizontally around your head at a height of about one inch above your eye- brows. When done properly, you will have measured the largest part of your head.

2. Check your measurement with the helmet sizing chart and select the closest size. As the helmet may not always meet your head size exactly, and your head measurement may fall between two sizes, first try the smaller size.

WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR HELMET

1. Expand the helmet opening by pulling outwards on each chinstrap, and slide your head into the helmet. If you are unfamiliar with helmets you may be reluctant to pull the helmet down, as it may feel too tight. Even if the helmet is difficult to put on, please use the smallest helmet possible. The helmet should feel snug. If the helmet is not tight, it is too big for you. New helmets will break in and loosen slightly over time.

2. Once the helmet is on:

  • Check that the helmet inner lining fits snugly all around your head.
  • Check that the top pad presses on the top of your head.
  • Check that the cheek pads press up against your cheeks. When you open and close your mouth, you should drag your teeth along the inside of your cheeks.
  • Check to make sure that you cannot easily slide your finger into the helmet along the side of your temple.
  • Hold the helmet with one hand on each side. Without moving your head, try to move the helmet up and down, and side to side. You should feel the skin of your head and face being pulled as you try to move the helmet. If you can move the helmet around easily, it is too big. Try a smaller size. Please note that during this check, the chinstraps should be properly fastened.
