Works great

I threw these plates in my 06 yz450f, which probably didn't completely need plates, and I could tell a difference right away. They grab very nicely. I only have a couple rides on these plates so I can't comment on durability. They took about 30 minutes of mx style on the throttle constant speed shift riding to break in. Not a huge upgrade from stock and I haven't tried the cheaper plates but I can say that I do t regret paying the extra money for the Hinson product.

Clutch tech

Hinson clutch kits have been used by us for several years now. We have had very good results and zero problems.A good tip though, always check the condition of the clutch hub and basket. If they are notched or have rough grooves in the fingers or splines replace these parts. Not doing so will adversely affect the performance.

Hinson Clutch

I will only buy Hinson or OEM. The others seem to fade extremely quick. Hinson components seem like they are high quality.

When putting these in do I need to put back the seat plate and cushion doing that came out with the OEM?

You need to remove all the stock clutch plates, fibers and any beveled spring washers and replace with the Hinson parts. Be sure you have a factory service manual to refer to when working on your bike. If you need more help, I would suggest to consult a local service center

I just ordered these for my 07 yz250f. When I put it in do I put the old seat plate and spring cushion back in that came out with the stock plates?

When installing the Hinson Clutch Fiber, Steel, Spring Kit you remove all the factory clutch plates, fibers and springs. If the factory clutch comes with judder springs, remove those also. The HInson kit will NOT reuse them.

Will this kit make my bike hook up more (better than OEM) and not rev out as easy?

No, it wont make your bike hook up better or rev out less. You will usually notice the biggest difference in the overall life of the plates compared to others.

Are all 8 fiber plates full size?
I have a '14 CRF450R and i removed the jutter spring and smaller inside plate by replacing with a full sized. Does this kit come with 8 full size plates? Or 7 and one smaller one? Thanks.

How to properly adjust!?
I have 2001 yz 250 and clutch needed to be done so I went Hinson fiber plates took the bike apart to find the basket and inner hub were also worn so I replaced them with oem yamaha parts put it all together to torque specs and now when go to adjust it I have to adjust the cable adjuster on handlebars near lever all the way out just to take slack out of cable what's my problem? The stock clutch was adjusted all the way in any help is appreciated

MotoSportExpert
You should have a barrel adjuster in the cable about halfway down. You should have enough adjustment there to get you back to about the middle of your adjuster on the bars.

How many hours should i put on these clutch plates changing the oil regularly?
MotoSport Staff

MotoSportExpert
It is impossible to determine how much time you will get out of the clutch. The wear on the clutch is determined by so many factors other than the engine oil it cannot be limited to that. With that said, you should see around the same amount of time as you would get out of the OEM clutch.
