Good Boot for the Money

fit is about a half size big, yet if you have a large calf or want to ride with chin/knee protectors under your boot/pants buy something different. I had to toss those for the ride as they wouldn't fit in the boot. Straps adjusted full out and still tight to get on. Buckles work ok but are in need of some technology. The boot is made very well and is very comfortable to ride or walk in. The SG11s seem to be a nice intermediate for woods riding lacking some of the additional protection the 10s and 12s have. If they had more calf room i'd give them an easy 5 stars. Seems pretty bad as my calves are not what i consider large and barely fit in the boots.

Gaerne Quality, but question the choice in gator

Solid boot as you would expect from Gaerne. Comparable to the SG 10 and 12, very comfortable and a bit lighter in weight overall. My only issue is the use of a rubber gator. I'm not sure what the thinking was, perhaps better seal for water/dirt intrusion, but I've taken a couple of direct hits in this 1" area of the upper shin (above the protection of the boot and below the protection from my knee braces) albeit painful but thankfully no real damage. The 10 & 12s have a heavy duty gator and the shin protection is a bit more complete. This may not be an issue if you use full shin guards, but its potentially a weak point if you wear knee braces. Very happy otherwise.

A: Yes. You can have them re-soled by a cobbler.

Q: Whats the difference between these and the sg-12 boots? And is it worth the extra little bit if money to get the sg-12s? Thanks?

A: The biggest difference between the SG-11 and SG-12 is the 12 has an external razorback skeleton. I would suggest to compare the features of both boots to decide which Gaerne model is better for you.
