I’m comparing the Fox Instinct boots to the boots that I currently have which are a pair of Alpinestar Tech 7’s. The Tech 7’s are pretty nice but feel a bit bulky on the foot and I have a heck of a time shifting with the Tech 7’s. The Tech 7 buckles are good but often difficult to un-latch. The Tech 7’s are very stiff and they have been difficult to “break in” and probably aren’t quite there yet for me. In comparison, the Fox Instinct boot which I just got, look really nice. I like the styling but I must say, compared to the Tech 7, the shin protection is gigantic. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. The Instinct’s just seem to have a huge bulge over the shin area. It’s large because there is the padded inner portion of the boot and a separate large protective plastic flap which also holds the top two buckle straps. It kind of looks like a knee pad on the shin. The Instinct boot appears to have a slightly lower profile over the foot area compared to the Tech 7 which makes it look almost like a regular shoe. The ankle area is slightly wider probably to accommodate the hinges which I think is a cool idea and one of the reasons I bought them. I’m flat footed and wear a size 11 regular shoe. The Tech 7’s and the Instinct’s that I have are size 12. So as they say, you need a size larger than a normal shoe. The Instinct’s really hug my feet and they do in fact, like I’ve read elsewhere, feel somewhat like a normal shoe. They fit my feet well and the arch support feels good. I had to add a heel pad inside the Tech 7's. The top of the boots seem to hug my pants legs nicely and it feels comfortable. The buckles are fantastic as far as operation goes. They are incredibly easy to adjust and insanely easy to latch or un-latch. I’m so used to fighting the Tech 7 latches. I have read that some guys have broken the latch in “combat” but I’m so happy with the ease of use that it’s a moot point for me. I’ll just replace them if I ever have to. I have not had a chance to ride with them yet but I expect they will be better than what I’m used to just by wearing them and walking around. I would buy them again or the next version as long as it has a hinge at the ankle. I like that they have range of motion out of the box. Expensive, but worth it.

Best boots I've ever had!
i went from a pair of Fox Comp 5s and after breaking my ankle and exploding the left boot in the process i purchased these and i would have paid 650 for them if that was the price. feels like you're riding in tennis shoes but with the protection of a high-performance motocross boot. well worth the money. the only thing is you need to buy a size bigger than what you wear and they'll fit perfectly!
I have been wearing these boots for the past year. They are still holding together, and they still look awesome
I love these boots even know they are a little narrow for my feet. Only other issue I had is I broke a piece off of one of the upper buckles in a crash. It's still functional and I am sure I can get a new one from fox. Overall great boot.
Love everything about the boots and spoke to a Fox rep at Loretta's this year. Love everything....except the top cuff of the boot. The material is ~vinyl and got a rip in it a few rides in. The Fox rep said contact Motosport about warranty and have not done that yet. That is the only issue...that material needs to be comfortable but may ultimately wind up having to be more durable in the design for this issue to go away.
I wouldn't recommend these boots to anyone, for the insane price you pay for them you shouldn't be losing 1-2 the buckle straps every ride. The soles wear really fast and they don't keep there good look for very long, the thin fabric on the ankle and the top falls off after the first wash. The only positive thing about the instincts is the fitting and comfort.
I loved these boots. I had alpine star tech 8 boots and I always had a hard time getting them to unbuckle. Very incovienent after being tired riding all day. But with these boots I never had that problem very easy to unbuckle after hard day of riding. Only gripe I have with these boots it feels narrow at the toe end, but as soon as I jump on the bike and start riding I did not even notice it, not even after I stop riding. Only regret I wish I could of worn them more then once, some thieving jerk stole my gear bag with all my mx gear including the limited edition red and white instict boot out of my garage. So when I get them money I will difently by these boots again
Great boot, but hey are slippery when the soles are wet or muddy.
These boots feel great! Yes, they feel narrow when you first put them on but its nothing to bad, just gotta break them in, the added support on these is INSANE, from the burn guards, etc.. Coming from AXO boots that were 90$ to these, its amazing how different and more supported they feel. They definitely run small because I am a 12 size shoe, but needed 13s in this boot. Haven't gotten a ride in with them yet but can't wait. If your debating to spend the money, spend it you will be able to tell how different and better of a ride you can be.
from all the boots that I've bought these are the best. I just went from Jett boots to these and they are more confortable. i would recommend getting a bigger size than you usually get.
These are literally the best boots i've ever set my feet in. Buy them don't mind the price because you wont care once you ride in them!
Overall i thought they were a great boot but the toe box was very narrow which made my feet cramp up while riding. they are very comfortable and offer great support but need a few minor adjustments. Offer outstanding grip with the bike and break in was nothing. Only other con is they are 550$
