i rode the bike everyday and i were wondering if it safe to have a passenger and a gear with around 550 lb

A: depends on what model bike you have. probably in ounces. But, ounces can make a big difference when you are dealing with unsprung weight savings. Unsprung weight can have a major effect on how a bike handles.
