In fact, Shoei entered the off-roads with the EX-2 in 1982. Follow-up innovations included the VX-4 in 1988 and the VF-X in 1991. In 2004, Shoei introduced the V-MT, and the VFX-DT, which used the Max Dry liner, a removable, adjustable and washable proprietary synthetic fiber that absorbs sweat faster than conventional nylon. In 2007, Shoei’s first Dual-Sport helmet, the Hornet DS arrived, and finally in 2008, the off-road VFX-W. The VFX-W is fitted with an Emergency Quick Release System (EQRS) that uses mechanical tabs for easy removal by emergency medical personnel.
