Yes this protector has a hard plastic chest protector integrated into it. These protect better than most hard plastic protectors.

It's definitely going to be pretty hot ridding in the summer.. If you wear vented gear you should stay pretty cool, and this suite is well ventilated so it's hard to say how "cool" someone would stay in it.

The sizing between the two is pretty much the same. You would be a large and with all the straps for adjustments on this protector you should be able to make it fit comfortably.

it will take a little bit to get used to but you won't notice it too much after a while, just like a chest protector or knee guards/braces.

If you compare this to a typical chest protector, than yes this is bulky. The upside to this protector is that it offers the most upper body protection than any typical chest protector.
