Clear Backgrounds
I have black side panels and air box covers on my 2013 KX250F and they show scratches really bad so I thought I'd try the clear backgrounds out. When trying to apply the clear backgrounds it is next to impossible to keep from getting some finger print marks on the sticky side even with clean hands. Once I got one side done, I stepped back to check it out, and wished I had ordered the black ones. Took the backgrounds back off immediately and think I'm just gonna order the pre printed backgrounds instead. i think the colored backgrounds may be better, but I didn't have much luck with the clear ones.

Durable
The film is really good quality , easy to work with and great finish results.

Poor quality
I bought this to put on my 2013 crf450 gas tank to stop scratching it but these things do not stick well at all. The edges don't stick and because of the type of adhesive you get lots of tiny bubbles under the clear background. The adhesive actually sticks to the gas tank and the sticker lifts off of the adhesive, so I am left with adhesive goup on my tank. I have put many graphics on and this stuff is not good quality.

Background used for protection
Worked great, used clear to protect graphics. Used soapy water to position and then squeegeed. Had a few rides, holding up well. If you don't use soapy water, it may be challanging to keep air pockets out, the adhesive isn't similiar to 3M. It is tacky, like rubber glue.

Strong & durable
I bought these for my #plates & also for my sons #plates. These back round decals are so strong & durable and really thick to.They also look so neat and professional just make sure you take your time sizing them to your #plate before you cut them down to size.I suggest using brand new scissors to get a clean shape & cut or you can use a razor carpet cutter either one will get the job done to your liking.Once it's cut and your ready to apply it make sure you spray Windex on the #plate and smooth the decal out with a plastic squeegee to get the air bubbles out.

Can you put them on over scratched plastics?
MotoSport Staff
Over 3 years ago Location: P+RTLAND
You can, but you may be replacing them pretty often.

yes, but the cleaner and less scratched the plastics are, the better they will adhere. Scratches can allow dirt and water to work their way behind the them and may cause them to come loose over time
2 years 10 months ago Location: Reno,NV
no, they are too thin to cover any mild scratches.

Could i put these over my number plate and then white numbers over that?

These can be used as you mentioned, but keep in mind you will have to cut them to fit around the backgrounds.

yes of course, that is what they are primarily designed for

Will one fit on the front number plate of a 2002 cr 125?
MotoSport Staff
Over 3 years ago Location: P+RTLAND
These are just square sheets that you cut the shape out of, so yes, you can make a front number plate background.

yes, the sheets are big enough to cover any front number plate

Can i put these over decals?
i plan on putting decals from a decal sheet on my bike can i put this over them as a protective cover from power washing and stuff?

The only one that you could use to put over decals would be the clear sheet. the colored sheets are solid color so that wouldn't work. Typically these universal sheets are for older bikes which you can't get pre cut backgrounds for or for sanctioned colored backgrounds for different types of racing.

yes, if you get the clear sheet, it should work well for that. just make sure to apply them properly and that you dont leave any crevises around the edges for water to get behind them

yup, they stick great on top of other graphics.

Will these work on a gas tank?
Just wondering if these will work well directly on a tank or will they have an issue like some of the other graphics that react with the fumes, bleed through or whatever it is. Looking to put on 1996 cr250 tank

They will stick for a while, but once fuel gets on them they will start to look pretty nasty so i wouldn't recommend these for tank decals.
Top 500 Contributor
2 years 11 months ago Location: CO
as with all grapics or decals put on fuel tanks, they have to have proper vent holes or they will ultimately be discolored and the adhesive will become desolved. Look at a graphics kit tank decal and you will see that there are usually 1/8 " vent holes spaced about every 1/2-3/4" apart.

NO, tanks need perforated graphics or they will peel

Can i use the clear ones as a protictive cover ?
would it tear the graphic if i took the clear one off of it? would that be a good idea or no?
MotoSport Staff Expert
once you apply the clear sheet, I wouldn't pull it off the graphic you applied it to. It won't stick the same after that.
Top 500 Contributor
2 years 11 months ago Location: CO
it should not tear it, as most graphics are going to be of similar thickness (16mil). If you are careful, you should be able to peel them apart without doing much damage. However, if you are covering a bunch of small sponsor stickers or something, you may not be able to salvage them since they most likely will not be as thick or durable

How hard would these be to put on a 1985 rm 80?
MotoSport Staff
Over 4 years ago Location: Portland, OR
All you have to do is basically cut the same shape as your side panel and apply it like a normal background. It's pretty simple as long as you take your time.

no more diffucult than any other bike. just cut to shape of the application

Are they hard to put on?
MotoSport Staff Expert
Not at all! Applying graphics (and in this case cutting the graphics to fit your plastic) requires nothing more than a little bit of patience and some tedious alignment/prep-work to make sure everything lines up and fits as well as it should. Just take your time and work it all out as you go!

easy to apply. you can apply them then cut to shape, or cut to shape and then apply them.
