The buckles are terrible... Plus I would get bruises on the arches of my feet for whatever reason. I guess if you don't plan on riding much & you aren't a hard charger, these will do the trick but I don't recommend them to anyone beyond that."

The Tech 3s are perfect in that role. However, with the increase in feel I think there is a decrease in protection. The 8s or 10s would be better for racing modern bikes. The 3s would be excellent for a racer on a tight budget."

Alpinestars Tech 3 Boots Alpinestars Tech 3 Boots Alpinestars Tech 3 Boots RobG99 (NJ) Exceptional Value "The Tech 3 boots by Alpinestars should be the only option for this price point. They are ..." "The Tech 3 boots by Alpinestars should be the only option for this price point. They are relatively light, fairly comfortable and hold up to just about any punishment I can throw at them. I bought these to use for GNCC's, as I didn't want to beat up my Tech 10's (which I use for motocross) going through the various trees, rocks, water crossings and other obstacles. The first thing that I noticed while wearing these boots was the low break-in time, after the first hour, the boots were fully broken in. The next important feature of these boots is comfort, coming off of Alpinestars' flagship Tech 10 model, I expected the comfort levels to vary drastically, however I was soon proven wrong. The boots feel great! I love the way the boots grip my leg, which allows me to "feel" the frame of the bike much better than with other boots in this range, which translates to better riding, and better finishes. The most important thing I was looking for in this boot is durability, the jagged rocks, tree stumps and other assorted obstacles offered by woods racing can destroy an otherwise good pair of boots. After a full season of racing, I can say that the Tech 3's exceed my expectations in the durability department. Mud, dirt, rocks, branches and water just cannot seem to penetrate the lining of the boot and get into the inside of the boot. Also, they look great too, and that never hurt anything. My one problem with the Tech 3's is that the adjustment strap on the top buckle actually comes into the compartment of the boot itself, and if not positioned properly, can get a bit uncomfortable. All in all, the Tech 3 boot by Alpinestars is of exceptional quality at a low price, anyone from weekend warriors to the local pro will have a hard time finding fault in this boot. Note: Alpinestars also makes a Tech 3 AT model, standing for All Terrain. The AT has, among other features, a metal toe cap, which some off-roaders prefer to molded toe caps. I chose the regular version because I prefer the polymer toe cap."
