Alpinestars Supertech R Boots Alpinestars Supertech R Boots 97RSR - Wait for the next generation "I have been an avid Alpinestars fan for the entirety of my racing career, whether it be in karts, formula, or motorcycle racing. Their products are simply top of the line, and I have yet to use another product line I feel is superior to theirs. Having said this, these Supertech Race boots fall short of expectation in multiple ways. Lets get started: Sizing: I currently wear Brooks Ravenna 7s in Size 9.5 (U.S.) as my daily shoe. Thus, because I wanted the boot to fit snuggly while in use, neither heavy nor clunky in my movements on the bike, I ordered Size 42 (Size 8 U.S.) Upon receiving the boots, I found that their was a gap between the end of my toes and the inner boots edge of at least 1 inch. I then ordered a pair of boots in Size 41 (U.S. size 7.5). Upon reception, I found that the boot still had a small gap of space between my toes and its length end. However, the width had not changed at all (Anyone hesitant of downsizing due to fears of cramping up your foot should find this info helpful). I also found that the outer shell of the size 41 boot had a drastic downsize from that of the Size 42, less clunky and more compact. In the end I decided not to make the jump to a smaller boot (the next size down being Size 40 (U.S. Size 6.5)) for fear that I would take my desire to have the ultimate fitting boot too far and give myself blisters. So, if you want a MotoGP fit, go super small, but if you want something for casual street use, just go small :) Style: The design of the boot is what probably gets the most clicks on the "add to cart" button. No one can deny how clean, aggressive, and streamlined the boot looks. Having said this, pictures do not give the full view of the characteristics of the boot. I chose the Black/White/Fluorescent Yellow option, and the top rubberized seal that makes contact with the rest of your track suit has a zigzag x pattern imprinted into the rubber itself - most pictures do not show this full pattern, and instead show a smooth rubber seal (unless you look extremely closely). Comfort - top of the line, no regrets, no issues whatsoever. If you're looking for a comfortable boot, this is it. Having said this, the tradeoff for comfort is the fact that the outer shell becomes extremely soft over periods of time, which is not the best from a protection standpoint (more on this shortly). Having said this, zipping the outer shell over the inner boot is extremely difficult, and I feel like sooner or later the zipper will break (this is one of the more common complaints I have heard). Durability: I have many issues with this boot from a durability standpoint, and the fact that I have used it a total of 4 times on track does not aid in this boots overall review. Having said this, for all riders looking to use the boot on the street, I have yet to have any issue when casual riding. The outer shell of the boot is made almost entirely of fiber (again, not the best from a protection standpoint). Talking to other road racers at the track who had yet to use it, they were surprised at how flimsy the outer shell was due to this lightweight material construction. Now here's where it gets gritty: riding smaller 50cc bikes at a MiniMoto track day, my boot was in close proximity to the tailpipe. Within 5 laps of the first session, I began to smell burning, and upon closer inspection, found that this material on the rear of the boot had melted away completely, and began to melt away at the inner boot as well. Imagine my dismay as this was the first use of the boots on the track, and already they had been damaged. The second time I used the boots was at a flat track racing school. They lasted the majority of the day, until an ill positioned low side had the tip of the boot (where most of the boots protective components have been placed, ironically) make contact with the clutch cover as the bike fell onto me. From this, I suffered shattered 3rd and 4th metatarsals. Granted the fall was awkward, as well as the fact that Alpinestars did not cause the bike to fall down. Indeed, I did. Having said that, normally this is where Alpinestars steps in and saves the day, producing one of those moments we all have when we think: "phew, thankfully I was wearing Alpinestars or I would be in a lot of pain!" Not so with these boots. Performance: For me these boots have performed poorly from a protection and durability standpoint. However, the comfort (at least once I get past the zipper stage) is very good. Performance is a combination of all the characteristics of the boot, and sadly the comfort is not good enough to overcome the issues of protection, durability, and overall satisfaction with the performance of the boot out on track. Having said this, I greatly look forward to Alpinestars' revision to this boot, hopefully stepping up the TPU and TPR on the rear of the boot instead of using flimsy textile material."

Alpinestars Tech-7 Enduro Boots Alpinestars Tech-7 Enduro Boots Johnnylandover - Boston Amazing boots "Fabulous lightweight boot and the comfort/quality is absolutely outstanding. I've tried many brands of boots but Alpinestars are way ahead of the curve. There's a reason just about everyone who rides wears Alpinstars, long lasting, great quality and amazing comfort"
