This is a one size fits all brake line and it is way to short ... This is not a OEM style fit

I destroyed the OEM brake line. Ride Eng. replacement was quick easy install. No issues whatsoever. And the braided line looks great. A vacuum brake bleeder made it easier but could be done without it as well.

Ride Eng. SS brakeline
Ride engineering makes excellent products, above that, they have the best customer service support in the industry. After I purchased this brake line, I was having a little trouble getting it to fit, so I called Ride Eng. on a Saturday, and someone answered! From their cell phone to boot! Anyhow, I got my questioned answered and the part fit perfectly. It also works wonders. The bike stops predictably and fast. I cannot say enough about Ride and their customer support. Buy this brake line, you will not be dissapointed.

Not sure of the dealio, but the end fittings leaked at both ends even after I replaced the OEM washers and went a step further with copper washers. Tightening the banjo bolts well past torque specs did not resolve the issue. Can only assume there was a manufacturing problem and returned the item for money back. Major waste of time and effort.

Go with OEM...
I went back to a new OEM after this and also a Galfer SS line I tried. I couldn't get the line far enough away from the fork tube that it didn't get hit by the upper fork tube when suspension compresses. This tears the outer plastic coating. Same price as OEM essentially, which mounts perfectly.

The stainless steel line gets rid of that "Spongy" feeling with the stock brake line. The fading effect towards the end of a moto is no longer an issue. Braking is consistent and feel is improved greatly. A must for any racer...

So so
I know they made this as a universal cable, but that isn't what I was looking for. It doesn't fit very good, but does work. I can't really tell much of a difference between this one and the stock one.

If you're referring to an older yamaha than this is the CR routed front brake line.

Is it a must to buy the special brake line clamp when going to SS lines?

No it's not a necessity.

YES-braided steel lines are only about 8mm thick. Your stock line is 12mm thick. Using the stock mount will result in your new brake line slipping through the mount and possibly getting into the wheel. The last thing you want is for that line to ruin your day at the track or trail with an improper installation.
