Pretty Good
" I purchased this set last season with the renthal r1 gold chain, and I do not like the chain at all. I hillclimb and I put in alot of hours of ride time and the sprockets are still in decent shape, but the chain stretches waayy too much and way too often. I recommend trying a different chain. "

" The first set of Renthal chain and sprockets didn't last very long. I like the look and the price, so I figured I would give them a second chance and I wish I hadn't. I've got three rides on the set and the sprockets are already rounding and the chain has stretched. I can hold my own as a mechanic so I know I'm not the problem.. "

Perfect product
" Bought this sprocket kit for my 06 yz250f, super easy to install, looks amazing with the color, and boosts performance. upgraded rear sprocket from 48 to 50 teeth, got more bottom end outta turns. A definite advantage for a 250 in acceleration with all those 450s out there. I will be buying for my next bike as well. Motosport is the best! "

" the only problem i faced was installing the master link on my chain. it was the o-ring chain and it comes with a specal master link that requires a special tool to install, however it does come with a normal master link. so i just used that. " This product is amazing! Had put on over a year ago and still getting the best performance. Moto sport had this shipped to me quick when I was in a pinch to get the sprockets replaced before the race the next weekend! The durability of this product is also unbelievable! Now I'm goin' somewhere
" The rear sproket is for sure lighter than stock and functions about the same. The black one looks sick on my Kawi. It's nothing out of the ordinary as the color odes rub off in spots over time as it should. The front sproket is a front sproket. As far as the chain goes, I went with the D.I.D. ERT2 chain instaed of the gold renthal one for the increased tensile strength, and I'm glad I did. The chain is sick and should get 5 stars. "

Light but not very durable
" This is a great product if you are into motocross but if you like riding offroad, and getting into mudd a lot, is not as durable as a sproket made from a different material. Other materials might be heavier but they would last longer, so it's really your call, sacrifice durability for weight or the other way around! "

Great Buy
" I put this kit on my 2007 Crf450r. The sprockets and chain both have a lot of hard riding hours on them and the only wear you can see on the sprockets is the black paint on the teeth on the rear sprocket is worn off. But both are still going strong and have lots of hours left on them. These are a lot better looking and stronger than the stock ones. Also I install the D.I.D. O-ring chain which is alot stronger then stock and doesn't streach as fast. Only thing you should know is the chain is longer than what you need and you'll have to shorten it to fit. But better to have too much then not enough. This is a GREAT BUY and you should get one today!!!!!!! "

" I love this kit. I have bought it numerous times. I ride KTM, I do a lot of GNCC, Enduros, Grand Prixs at A level. It holds up to whatever I put it through without wear. Great setup
" I really like this setup. You don't have to worry about parting a drive setup together. Some people have a tendency to complain about sprockets wearing out to fast. The key to any sprocket is to always keep the chain at the correct tensile. The Renthal sprockets are both lightweight and strong. They also have good cleaning groves to them to keep your chain from collecting dirt. I will buy this kit again when it's time. "

Quality and Performance
" On day about a month ago I was cleaning and doing monthly checks on my 08 Kawasaki 450f and noticed that my chain and sprocket was needing to be replaced. The chain being stretched to It's max and the sprocket looking worn and battered. I thought about what I should put back in thier place and after thinking about it and doing some research on the internet I realized..why am I doing all this research? the answer is obvious, Renthal. Renthal has always stood up to whatever it was delt. The quality and performance is unmatched, and the craftsmanship, durability and great looks are put into every part. It has been for years and I'am sure will continue for many years to come. Thank You to the Renthal team and motosport for all thier hard work and dedication. Anthony "

Just a little problem with the chain
" I ordered this for a 2004 Raptor 660 with a 12 tooth front and stock tooth count in the rear. The sprockets are holding up well but its only been one race. They fit perfectly. I got a DID X Ring chain and it didnt stretch very much at all after the first race but when I tried to install it I had to remove 8 links which is more than I expected and the retaining clip broke in half. I went to the local shop and got a heavy duty clip which was hard to get on because it was so much thicker but I got it to work. I would recommend buying the heavier clip before you start assembly. "

Great buy!
" I have a blue renthal sprocket on my yz450f, and a orange renthal sprocket w/ the renthal gold chain on my ktm 85. The chain has worked out wonderfully, I have had no problems whats so ever with it! My ktm has had no problems or bent teeth. My yz450f's blue sprocket has been on the bike for a little over 2 years, and some of the teeth are starting to bend a little. But I have had it on there for quite some time and I am just starting to see a bit of wear. EXCELLENT!!!
" had a renthal sprocket last time on my crf 450 and it was almost toothless so i was hesitant about buying another one. I ride mostly sand and i figured the renthals would just be eaten up....bought this set and ill tell ya its awesome...the chain has loosened up very little in the time ive had it....all in all about 20-25 hours of riding and theres still a little paint on each tooth....i do notice a little wear on the sprocket but thats nothing to worry about...the picture is of my last sprocket. Upgrade is worth it!!!
" We previously used a less expensive, generic chain. We purchased the Renthal chain and were very pleased with it. My son is 7 and likes to rev his bike while riding thus stretching his chain. Well, that was before the Renthal chain. It has held up wonderfully and has not stretched nearly as much or as fast as the generic chains we have used in the past. I would definitely recommend this product to any customer. It is well worth the money. "

Renthal Products
" When ever I purchase a bike either new or used I always replace the sprocket and chain which I'm writing this review about. Renthals wear so much better than other brands I have used. I have to tighten the chain less often and this in itself helps me get a lot more wear ouy of the sprocket. I can usually purchase renthal products cheaper than I can OEM parts. I see lots of renthal sprockets and chains here in the midwest when I'm lining up for the start of a race and then its me and my renthal's out in front. Seriously renthal products are great. "

Asked by CRF250x
Well to gain more top end speed your going to want to either go down some teeth on the rear or go teeth in front. Here is a link to Renthal's Gearing Chart to help you out. http://renthal.com/File/gearing_ratios.asp

Will a o-ring chain fit on a 06 crf450r? I heard it may scrape against the crank case. Thanks
Asked by Taper
I'm not sure but they say that non o-ring chains are better for motocross due to less drag. (o-rings adding drag and stiffness of chain) The only purpose of the o-rings is to prevent water damage to the chain which can be prevented with a handy can of chain lubricant. If you don't plan on riding through creeks and big puddles i'd suggest the non o-ring chain.
Answered by Shad0w
That's correct. You will want to search for the front sprocket spacer. this will shim the sprocket out about 5mm so the chain will clear the case. Fastway offers this up, but we don't sell it anymore. Give them a call and see if they still offer it. It used to be like $3 or $4 bucks..
Answered by james718
what is the stock size of the front and back sprockets on a crf250r 2007?
Asked by ltz400pro
the stock teeth are 13 on the front, 51 on the rear. adding or removing 1 tooth from the front sprocket is like adding or removing 1 from the rear. Go bigger in the rear or smaller in the front to improve torque, but with the loss of top speed, and vise versa. It all depends on what you're preference is.
Answered by Shad0w
what is best teeth set up for a 09 kx250f would one be better than the other?
Asked by merrgian
Gearing is mainly rider preference. If you like how the bike runs as is, stay with what you have. If you need more pull or bottom end, either go up a tooth or two on the rear or down tooth on the front. It would be the opposite of what I just said if you're lacking top end.

What size teeth should i get?
Asked by 400exracer
Tooth count depends on the track your riding and the style you like to ride. If you are just getting into racing I would leave your gearing as stock for a minute and see how you like it. After that I would say if you want more top end go with a smaller tooth count on the rear and if you want more bottom end go with a larger sprocket on the rear. Keep in mind, adding more bottom end takes away from the top end speed, and more top end speed takes away from the bottom end power.

will it fit an 08 raptor 700R?
Asked by YZ700Rrider08
If you use the bike/ATV selector you can find out if this kit is available for your quad. input your make/model/year. Your Raptor uses a 520 chain. You will have to cut the chain to fit. Most chains we sell are either 110 or 120 links. Make sure you have a chain breaker to cut the chain down. And a red chain would only be red the first time you put it on, after that the red will just wear off. It happens to all of my gold chains.

What is the best way to get more low end out of a '04 450R?
Asked by 7365
adding 1-2 teeth in the rear sprocket will give you noticeable changes in acceleration. Also going down a tooth in the counter shaft will achieve the same. But 1 tooth difference in the front sprocket will be equivalent to changing 2-3 teeth in the rear.
Answered by james718, Portland, OR
Lower the amount of teeth on the front sprocket. Count how many teeth you currently have and get a new front sporcket with less teeth. The more teeth you drop the more low end it will give you.

what size sprocket
Asked by p00num3lli
I would first figure out what size sprockets are on the bike. Than you will need to ask yourself what your looking to achieve. If you feel the bike lacks acceleration (bottom end) than consider going up a couple teeth in the rear. If you want more top end speed, consider going down a couple teeth on the rear sprocket. Keep in mind that you will compensate one for the other. Meaning if you want more top speed, you will loose a little acceleration and visa-versa.

Not too sure of the exact link amount, but I would go with a 120 link and just break it down to size.
Answered by Drewski, P+RTLAND
Not too sure what the exact link amount would be and depending on if it's the big wheel or the standard to be on the safe side i'm going to say get at least 126 links and then break it down to fit.

We only sell 120 link chains. You will have to cut the chain to fit.

How do I request a color?
Asked by mxmom421, Tennessee
The front sprocket you can't order a color, its just steel color like in the picture. But for the rear, just open the drop down option list and find the teeth number you want. Then behind the number it will say what color it is. On the screen I saw for example, there was 3 different 43T sprockets listed each a different color choice.

Asked by maliksyz250f, chino
If you are unsure what you would like to achieve by switching the gearing, I would suggest sticking with the stock size. look on the sprockets and they are stamped with the tooth count, or just count them.

What tooth combo is the best for an 04' KDX that is rode Strickly on Trails?
Asked by
Gear is a personal preference so it's all about experimenting, if anything I would go down a tooth in the front to get some more pull on the bottom end but it's something your going to have to play with to get it where you want. you can contact Renthal direct for a more specific ratio if you want.

what drive will be better for baja igot 48 14
Asked by ruben
I just replaced my stock 39/14 with a 39/13 for more bottom end. The Smaller the number the better lower end you will get. The higher the number the more top end you will get. For where i ride in upstate,ny the bottom end is what i needed. I rarely ever hit 5th gear because i just dont have the trail space. Hope this helps.

how many links for a 400ex
Asked by honda4004ever
Most of the chains come as a standard 120 tooth then you remove what you need to. Defenitely purchase a chain breaker as it is an inexpensive and time saving device. I would check your owners manual as many have the information in them or as i would always recommend purchase the service manual, it is well worth every penny !

diffrance between the D.I.D o-ring chain and the renthal R1 gold
Asked by lpbrown2, colorado
The DID is a manufacturer of a very good chain, they are all good in many ways. The DID o-ring for the most it is used for enduro, hare scrambles etc. the non o-ring is used in most MX, SX, AX. and requires much more maintenance. They all need to be kept clean and free from dirt and debris also proper adjustment and lubrication is a must. Either will fit your application just check you link count.

I was wondering what size front and rear sprocket set will fit a 2002 CR250R for racing motorcross outdoors, also a chain that want sling off
Asked by Pilly
Chain length depends on what gearing you have and as long as you have your chain adjusted properly, no chain should just sling off unless it snaps. If you need help with this please contact one of our sales reps for assistance.
Answered by Drewski, Por+land
do you cut the chain to fit

all of our chains are cut to fit and you have to do the cutting.

According to my book, they say the stock gearing for an '07 KX65 is 13/47. You may want to confirm that if it sounds funny.

For a Honda400ex if i do 15" front and 39" rear sprocket, what size chain should I get?
Asked by Amanda
All 520 chains will come in 110 or 120 links which will give you more links than you'll need. Make sure you have a chain breaker or grinder when you're ready to install it.
