Product Description

  • There is a new standard in knee brace protection with the development of the Pod MX K700.
  • Pod MX invested in research to medically understand the natural movement of the human knee to develop the K700's hinge system that mimics natural movement, resulting in superior safety.
  • The Polymer Hinge System in the K700 knee brace features Synthetic Ligaments that function like the human knee, to provide secure natural motion.
  • The Pod MX K700 knee brace provides impact protection to the patella with the self-tracking patella guard that remains in position in front of the knee to transfer impact energy throughout the knee brace without directing impact to the knee.
  • A carbon composite frame allows the K700 knee brace to keep a low-profile lightweight design without sacrificing strength and rigidity.
  • Pod MX uses a plush anti-bacterial moisture wicking frame liner on the K700 for a forget-about-it comfort fit.
  • Large straps that also feature the moisture wicking comfort fabric, maintain the knee brace position for optimum function.
  • The Pod MX K700 knee brace is ideal for adult riders of any level with ACL, PCL, MCL, and LCL instability. The K700 design also protects against rotary and combined instabilities.
  • POD ligament knee braces are medical grade products, covered by most heath insurance plans, with a doctor's prescription. Check with your doctor and insurance provider first.
  • Sold as a pair.

Ultra Cell VS POD K700
After wearing both brands 10 track hours my pick is the K700. The pods are very comfortable. Straps are the weak points.

Best Knee Braces Ever!
I have worn out two pairs of a popular competitor's braces. The Pod's are lighter, thinner and way less intrusive. You don't even know you have them on. They are well worth the money.

Nicest MX Knee Braces
These are the most comfortable knee braces I have ever worn. They are the only 'acl stabilization' braces that I found for motocross. They may be a little more money than the asterisk, but they are waaaaay more functional. They don't even feel like they are one. Very light, very breathable. Great Braces

Good but maybe not the best
These are a high priced knee brace. I bought them as they are one of the few that are "medical device" rated. If you have insurance that will cover braces, most don't, then it has to be a rated device. They fit and support pretty well. As mentioned above the linings move around a bit but not too bad for me. My biggest issue is the knee cap protection is weak. It's ok when your leg is straight but when bent the cup does not fully cover the knee cap. A rock or branch could get by cup and whack your knee. Hasn't happened yet but I'm still a bit concerned. I use a knee high sock then pull a tube like sock over and onto my theigh. After fastening the brace I roll the tube sock down over the brace.

Velcro Problems
The way the upper, and for that matter the lower main pads are held in place (the small Velcro pads) are not sufficient. I have worn them now three times, for more then 4 hours at a time, and the pads/linings will not stay in place. For the upper pad this is a big problem, as the patella cup will now ride under the lining/pad cover as to float above it as it is designed. For that matter, after about 10 hours of total use, they will hardly hold the lining (especially around the sides) in place even before you put them on. As I have worn them, I will not be able to return them. I don’t fault Motosport.com, they didn’t design them. I will be contacting manufacture to see if there is anything that can be done, hoping that I am not out of pocket $800.00.

Very comfortable and very bionic feel. I did not crash yet on them but looks the protection is top of line you can feel the hinges limiting the undesirable motion on your knees

Could be better
This brace fits great, is light, comfortable, and you won't even know you are wearing it. However, The safety of this brace is concerning. The bionic ligament system used in this brace consists of a fiber strand encased in silicone. This allows the brace to hinge smoothly, but after the fiber strand breaks or wears out, your braces can no longer do their job and you will be purchasing a $50 refurbishment kit to fix them. I have about 50 hours of track time on these braces with no major impacts to my knee and I have now gone through 3 pair of ligaments. Fox will tell you they can't help you so good luck to you. If you are willing to spend $50 every 15-20 hours of riding to fix them then go ahead and order up!

Safe Knees
I purchased this pair about a year ago. They have taken some pretty big shots too. One fall actually cracked the coating on the carbon fiber near the joint on one side, both top and bottom. God only knows what my knee woulda looked like without them. They are really comfortable, forget that I'm wearing them too. They don't catch the shrouds or frame either because they are so slim. Is there a cheaper brand that does the same thing? I don't know, but these definitely do what they're supposed to.

Is there a sizing chart to reference?

Here's what I've been able to pull off of the Pod Knee brace website, see attached image. Also they have a sizing video on their website if you want to take a look at that, follow this link: http://www.podmx.com

I have a friend that bought these and based on the chart posted here we both measured out to a large. The large turned out to be too small however for either of us. The brace was uncomfortable and I think the next size up would be a better fit. I'm going to buy these in an extra large and see how it goes. I'll post more info once they show up.

What It Is

The K700 is the second knee brace offering from PODMX, a New Zealand-based company that is distributed in the U.S. by Fox Racing. As an off-the-shelf brace, the K700 comes with all of the latest technology that one would expect to find in custom units. The entire frame is constructed out of carbon composite, and it comes with a self-tracking patella cup, four adjustable fitment straps, and an antibacterial liner. The K700 design is centered on PODMX's polymer hinge technology; a synthetic ligament within the hinge intended to follow the natural movement of the knee.

Hits

The first noticeable attribute with the K700 is the minimal weight, which is barely more than a high-end plastic knee cup. The movement of the hinges, thanks to the polymer ligament, is virtually frictionless, and remained so even after several months of use. Fitment is surprisingly accurate for an off-the-shelf product, as long as you have matched the correct size brace to your legs. On the track, you would be hardpressed to even notice the K700s, as their slim design and comfortable padding have little to no obstruction with the motorcycle, even if you are a crazy leg gripper like Swap. Depending on your preferences or past injuries, the braces come with different degree hinge stops to help avoid hyperextension.

Misses

Our biggest gripes we have so far are with the liner and straps. While both serve their functions very well, the adhesive used to secure the various pads and Velcro has failed on numerous occasions. Pads do not necessarily fall off while riding, but they will move around. The straps come with additional pads that are thicker to help spread the load and we believe those pads should just be integrated into the straps instead of using Velcro.

The Verdict

Not often does a product come along that adds confidence to your riding. The K700 offers excellent support, is very light weight, and has almost no obstruction with the bike. While the biggest flaw is the poor liner adhesive, the liner itself is very effective (personally, I know the antibacterial padding works because it usually takes only one or two rides for my stink to permanently attach itself to any one item). While the first PODMX was a good offering and is still available, the K700 surpasses its older brother in most avenues and could even compete with custom braces. To top things off, the fully removable patella cup means the braces could be used for non-moto sports as well.
