Product Description

K&N XStream Series Motocross Air Filters take performance to the next level with the addition of a filter within the filter's top in order to add even more filtration area for high air-flow and capacity. Each filter piece has pleated media which creates a large surface area that provides high airflow and great dirt holding capacity for extreme conditions. The two-piece design eases installation and removal on modern narrow-framed MX bikes. The epoxy-coated aluminum wire mesh, incorporated into a backfire screen, protects the filter element from harmful debris. A custom base seal ensures a precise and secure fit. K&N air filters are washable and re-usable and they come pre-oiled and ready to use.

  • Ideal for extended use in dirty and dusty off-road riding and provide clean carburetion even at high altitude.
  • Pleated cotton filter allows for 2 to 3 times the filtration area of a foam filter, increasing filtration and air flow.
  • Easy installation, changing and cleaning.

  • Product style: Unique air filters.
  • Filter material: Cotton gauze.
  • Flanges: None.

Easy power increase
I would definetly recommend this product. Not a gigantic power increase, but I could definetly tell some difference from my old foam filter.

Big power!
i bought the powercore 4 slip-on and purchase the powerbomb header separately, which made a full system. I purchased the K&N filter to compensate for the added exhaust, so i then had to re-jet and went with a FMF (DJ) jet kit. the K&N filter added incredible amounts of air flow and was easy to install, it lasts longer between cleans, and is very mess free when washing and oiling. with the combo of these three items my bike rips!

I like it. ...
A lot of people at the track steer clear of these, i have been running them my whole life, saves tons of money hassle and mess, i have never had a problem. keep a k&n for the life of the bike, and a filter maintenance kit you will never buy a filter again.

Will this fit on a 2005 CRF450X or does it just fit the R?
MotoSport Staff
Over 3 years ago Location: Tualatin
no this will only fit the 450R. K&N does not make an air filter for the 450X at this time.

Is this a good enough filter for use in sand?

Personally I wouldn't run this filter in the sand unless I had an outerwear on it.

Will i have to change my jetting specs?
MotoSport Staff
Over 4 years ago Location: Portland, OR
Most likely, it depends on where you are located and what you have done to your bike. I would install the filter and see how the machine responds to it and then take it from there.

What's the bottom line on these?
Many claim that they pass too much dirt to be used safely on bikes such as a CRF450R. Any truth to this? What do the experts really think?
MotoSport Staff

As long as you stay up on the maintenance and keep it oiled up you shouldn't have any issues with dirt sucking through. I wouldn't recommend this filter in the sand though. And just as an extra precaution you can always pick up a filter skin to help block out the elements.

Can you use k&n car filter oil?
Expert MotoSport Staff
Unfortunately we only sell the off-road filters and not the automobile filters. They are different divisions within their company. I do know they use the same material to construct the filters whether its for 2 or 4 wheel. So why wouldn't the same filter cleaner and oil be used used for either application. But to be safe I would contact K&N directly and ask them.

How is the filter cleaned?

Best thing to do is get the K&N cleaning kit and follow the instructions. That's what K&N recommends and it keeps all applicable warranties in place.
