This complete 2-Stroke Top and Bottom End Kit has everything you need, all the quality parts, including a Vertex 2-Stroke Piston, to rebuild your motor.

  • The kit includes: Hot Rods Crank, Vertex 2-Stroke Piston, Hot Rods Bearings and Seals, and a Complete Athena Gasket Kit.

Hot Rods Crankshaft:

Building on the success of high-quality, O.E.M. replacement rods, Hot Rods introduced the perfect place to showcase them in a complete heavy duty Hot Rods O.E.M. replacement crankshaft. Since that time, Hot Rods heavy duty crankshafts have been regarded as the premier alternative, Hot Rods heavy duty crankshafts also bring a level of uncompromising quality, design and innovation not seen in its competitors.

  • All crankshafts are sold complete and ready for installation with the original proven Hot Rods connecting rods, and crankshaft webs.
  • Factory assembled and trued to O.E.M. specifications, Hot Rods cranks will meet or surpass the O.E.M. in performance and durability.
  • Crankshafts are fully re-buildable with genuine Hot Rods connecting rods and bearings.
  • Multi-cylinder applications are sold complete with main bearings (unless specified otherwise).
  • Two and four-stroke applications available.

Vertex 2-Stroke Piston:

As the O.E. supplier of two-stroke pistons to KTM, Vertex Pistons has an outstanding reputation for quality and performance. The silicon content in Vertex pistons is crucial to the quality of the piston. Silicon is significant for decreasing thermal expansion which, when an engine reaches normal operating temperatures, can change the geometry of the piston. Controlling this expansion means that a Vertex piston can be run at tighter tolerances for more power, less noise and a longer lifespan of the piston. Plus, the silicon content decreases wear on the piston skirt which also aids in the life of the piston.

  • Each gravity cast piston is created with only premium aluminum alloys utilizing an 12 - 21% silicon content.
  • In addition to the silicon, each Vertex piston utilizes a unique Molybdenum Disulphide (MOS2) coating which aids in the break-in process and reduces overall wear.
  • With the purchase of a premium quality piston, every Vertex piston kit contains a complete set of nitride-coated or chrome-plated piston rings, a fully case hardened wrist pin and circlips all at a competitive price.
  • Note: This piston is for a stock sized bore. Please measure your cylinder to check clearance before ordering.

  • To compliment Hot Rods full line of heavy-duty O.E.M. replacement and stroker crankshafts are Hot Rods complete main bearings for both two and four-stroke applications. Like other Hot Rods products, these main bearing and seal kits are built to the highest quality standards that meet or exceed those of O.E.M.
  • Additionally, not only will Hot Rods main bearing and seal kits work in rebuilding a Hot Rods crankshaft but, they also work in rebuilding O.E.M. cranks as well.

If your cylinder and head are in good shape this will be everything you need rebuild the motor side of the engine. If the cylinder and/or head are damaged they will need to be either repaired, or new ones purchased separately. It will also not include transmission bearings which should be inspected at teardown and replaced as needed also.

By installing this kit in your 2005 CR85R you should not have to re-jet or replace your reeds.
