What It Is
The Runway is Fly's latest ramp offering and is intended to be both sturdy and compact. A solid 6061-aluminum construction, ladder-style gripping rungs, rubber padding, and folding design are meant to keep the Runway light and stable.
First and foremost, folding ramps are a godsend for short bed trucks or just when you need some space, so long as they are designed and manufactured well and the Runway hit the nail on the head. The narrow top and wide bottom section mesh together flawlessly in the folded position, and fit just snug enough to keep the ramp folded when moving it around, yet unfolding is not a chore when it's time to load or unload. Furthermore, the ramp can be folded simply by grabbing the rounded center hinge and lifting up, which kept my delicate digits out of harm's way. Rubber pads on both the flange and feet provide security when pushing your scoot into your rig and the grooved rungs prevent the bike from slipping at those crucial moments.
After a month or so of use, one of the rubber feet popped out of the boxed aluminum at the bottom. The heavily-reinforced aluminum construction means the Runway is slightly heavier than other ramps in its category.
Ramps don't need to be replaced every week, or every decade for that matter. In fact, I have been using the same ramp for well over 10 years, and I couldn't find a reason to change until I used the Fly Folding Runway. Not only is it far more compact in its folded position (key for short bed trucks), when extended, the Runway is longer than my old ramp and more stable thanks to its wider foot design. If you have been searching for something to replace your splintering two by four, look no further than the Fly Racing Folding Runway.
