How does the Factory Connection Pre-Load Ring, adjustment collar lock into place to prevent backing off?

I believe you will need to use the locking ring to keep the preload ring from loosing. This special preload ring just makes it easier adjusting the preload on the rear spring. think of this as having more precision than most OEM preload rings and it helps to keep the spring from spinning like it would with a standard OEM adjuster.
