Dual Purpose Jacket
I bought this jacket as a cold weather dual purpose street and trail riding jacket. I wanted something that was weather proof for the colder New England riding months that have unpredictable riding. The jacket fits large and allows for chest protection to be worn underneath without the need to go up one size. The largeness also allows for air circulation so heated moist air can escape. This can also allow cooler air in when you don't want it to. The cinch pulls at the bottom of the jacket help control this. The material is very heavy and strong and easily wards off the thorns of passing brush without ruining the fabric. This obviously makes it pack larger than most jackets so as a warm weather rain jacket it may be too heavy and bulky. The zippers are the weather sealing type and while they block the water they require more effort to open and close. I ride to trail heads on the street where the cooler temps require warmth yet once on the trail I easily overheat so off come the sleeves and into the built in tail pocket they go. The vents open up and the riding vest works great when the temps warm up. The internal pocket for holding my cell phone and other pockets are convenient yet small compared to some adventure styled jackets. If you are looking for a convertible trail jacket for wet and cold conditions I recommend this jacket.
