This pipe guard arrives shaped like it's made to fit a baseball bat. It's straight length wise and each individual "fin" is curved to much. You have to bend it to fit your pipe. I've seen some people say it took them 3 hours to complete the installation because it was so hard to bend. It took me a little over a half an hour using a rubber mallet, gloves (you will cut your hands if you don't) and my foot. Once I got it shaped decently enough, I used the hose clamps to mold the fins to the pipe. Your pipe will get scratched. My pipe is rattle canned with black header paint so it's no big deal. It's not as attractive as it is in the picture (dull course aluminum look) and it's not a bolt on product, but it will protect your pipe from the small dents you'd otherwise get from laying your bike over and seems sturdy enough.
