Updated Review

UPDATE after I contacted Promoto billet about the bolts falling off of my RM250 they sent me new bolts. This time I made sure to use thread locker. After another short ride on the same route the top bolt fell off. The bottom bracket snapped in half and bent the chain roller bolt. This also destroyed the chain roller. CONCLUSION I had to order a new chain roller which was about $15 and wait again for PMB to mail me more bolts, which took two shipments because the first one they did not mail them all. I have yet to test the new bolts on the trail yet, but I have paid too much money to have to wait a month to get a proper kickstand. The only good thing about PMB is that they have good customer service to answer the phone fast and mail me bolts.

Great Side Stand.

Another great product from the folks at Pro Moto Billett. Very sturdy unlike the oem side stand on my KTM 530 EXC. Pictures don't do it justice. Also quick reliable service from MotoSport. Ordered on a Wednesday afternoon. Delivered by the Brown Truck on Friday. I give it an excellent rating. Buy it! You want be disappointed.

Huge waste of money

I installed it on my Suzuki RM250. I make sure the bolts were tight, did not wreck the bike with the stand on, and I did not start the bike with the stand down. I took it for one short ride and two of the bolts fell off, rendering the stand useless. I have never rated anything on the internet with one star, but this is pathetic. I now have a hundred and fifty dollar stick that is completely useless. My suggestion for RM owners since there is not a plethora of kickstands for this model would be to not buy this stand or make sure you use loctite.

Much more sturdy than stock

My 2008 KTM EXC-r was stolen and recovered. The one thing they broke was the kickstand. I like that this stand uses two bolt locations to mount, the original kickstand bolt location and the bolt where the sub frame bolts to the frame. This makes it a lot more sturdy than stock. I have after market passenger pegs and it is still able to fold up correctly, though it does touch the bottom of the peg support when up. It sits up a lot straighter than the stock stand did, if you turn the wheel right it will likely fall over, but with the wheel turned left it is very sturdy due to the bend and much larger foot hold. I have been off road with it once and no need to use the stock rubber kickstand strap, stays perfectly in place.

Works Well

Kickstand works as advertised. Easy to install. Had to purchase one additional bolt from hardware store to make it work.

Don't even know it's there !

This is a great stand- the most amazing thing is that it folds so completely out of the way. I don't even know it's there! But when I need it it is very strong and stable. I would highly recommend this product to vertically challenged riders like myself who need it to start the bike in the field.

Excellent Stand

Well worth the extra money. Perfect fit and finish. Strong spring action both directions. Tucks tight under plastic well away from swingarm movement. Very easy to mount product with supplied bolts. It took me a long time to decide on if I wanted to put this on my bike. Now I am wondering why I waited so long.

I have a 2002 yz125 and was wondering will this kickstand stay in place while up through jumps, tabletops, and whoops?
I guess what I am trying to ask is will this stand stay up when the bike is jumped instead of just trail ridden?

The Pro Moto Billet kickstand features a strong internal spring at the pivot point that would keep the kickstand up and out of the way while riding. You should not have to worry about it coming down at any time while riding. It is really intended for off-road but really the internal spring in the pivot should keep the kickstand up when landing off of jumps and going through whoops as well. It also tucks up under the sidepanel when it is up so the stand is out of the way. I wouldn't recommend riding a motocross track with a kickstand though, I would be more nervous of my boot/leg pushing the kickstand down when in the air over bigger jumps.

What is the length of this stand?
I lowered my 2009 KTM xc-w 400 by one inch. I would like a slightly shorter side stand.

I don't have the exact measurements for the stand for your model but these are made to be used with the bike at the OEM height. If your bike is lowered an inch it will likely be too long for your needs.

I also lowered my KTM by 1 1/2 inches. Find a good welder, cut off the foot then cut the stand from the bottom until the desired length is reached. Weld foot back on and you're good to go. I talked with the folks at Pro Mot as well as some experienced welders before I had mine done. Everyone assured me that cutting and re welding would not compromise the integrity of the stand. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately Pro Moto Billet does not offer a kickstand to fit your 1998 KTM 400SC. I checked with other brands also and no one is listing a specific kickstand for this model any longer.
