  • Carbon steel with a nickel-plated finish for maximum durability.
  • FMF Racing's Tru-Flo stamping process ensures a perfect fit and optimum performance.
  • Can be used with FMF or stock silencer.
  • FMF's most popular 2-stroke pipe .

Note: Pipe may include factory indentations for proper installation clearance.

FMF Powercore 2 Silencer:

  • FMF adds the Powercore 2 silencer to its arsenal of 2-stroke exhaust options because FMF is brand that knows how to maximize power for any terrain.
  • The sleeve of the Powercore 2 silencer is constructed from extruded aluminum to provide a lightweight design. FMF incorporated a tuned perforated core for exceptional performance.

Overall
The pipe
LOTS of rust inside the pipe.
I was very excited to get my pipe and silencer. But when I looked inside my pipe to see how it was and the conditions, I found LOTS of rust... It may not effect the bike, but it's something I would not like to see.

Pucker Factor!
Most aftermarket exhausts I upgrade from stock doesn’t give you a noticeable feel of increased performance. However, the FMF pipe and silencer combo I chose took approx. 5 min to install. I then test rode my 2013 Yamaha YZ250 for a few min. WOW, what a difference! The stock exhaust raised the front wheel in first and second land sometimes in third. The FMF raised in all gears and increase the pucker factor. Oh yeah, lighter than stock.

Fantastic quality, price and performance
I bought the Fatty/Shorty combo for my '05 YZ125. It fit perfectly, looks incredible and works perfectly. There is a difference in performance and the nickle finish is easy to maintain.

I've been told for years now how a pipe and silencer will REALLY increase the performance of my YZ. I've been holding off for quite a few years but decided that the wife and boys could buy the pipe and silencer for me for Father's Day. I found out (after burning $334) that the performance of my YZ can be enhanced with judicious application of fuel input via my right wrist. The combo did shorten the gap from 0 to the power band a little but not worth burning up $334. If I had to do it again, I'd forego the purchase and twist the throttle a little harder. Definitely not worth the money in my opinion.

Good pipe for my 04 KX125
I bought this as a 1st aftermarket performance part for my kx125. After installing and re-jetting, my bike ran absolutely great. I'd recommend FMF pipes 2 every MX rider

Good Pipe Combo
Great pipe for the price. Put it on my '03 Yz85 and could tell some difference. It sounded really aggressive and mid-range power is insane, but looking back now I wish I had gotten the SST pipe with the Turbine Core 2 silencer. But this pipe does good if your on a budget.

Changed to this set up from a pro circuit pipe and silencer on my 01 cr250. Has a lot more hit on the middle. Can't tell a difference on the top end but this is what my bike needed. Would reckoned to anyone looking for more punch coming out of tight corners.

What's the difference between the silencer and the shorty?
Dave 11 days ago
Will I have to re jet for a 2002 yz 250? It has a fatty pipe on it but its messed up so I'm replacing it but it has a stock silencer.?

Does it come with all the hardware like bolts and the spring?

These typically do not come with the hardware to install. You can use your stock hardware.

no it dose not. but the hardware you have should be just fine.

One frame bolt does not line up on my 2003 yz125?
The frame bolt closest to the header does not line up. In fact it is easily an inch off and I noticed that the width of the curve of the pipe is 1 inch wider than stock. The frame bolt closest to the silencer lines up fine. Also, the kick start lever now loosely rests against the pipe - which could be an annoying vibrating noise when riding. Suggestions? Thank you.

Tough call. In my opinion: The Fatty. I've run both pipes on a 2006 CR250r (much different I know) and found that there is noticeable design-power character difference. The SST is a screamer and the Fatty is just that in the mid range. I dig both pipes, but for tight track racing I would lean to the fatty. Keep in mind different silencer combos on 2-strokes make a huge difference.

If i bought the SST header and the shorty end pipe, would it spread out the powerband?
MotoSport Staff Expert
Over 3 years ago Location: USA
typically the SST pipe must require the purchase of the SST silencer. But without know what kind of bike you plan to put this on, i couldn't tell if that would be the case. 90% of the applications out there require the SST silencer with matching pipe.

The main direction the power is spread is to the bottom end. The shorty gave my CR250r FMF-SST some snap of the bottom which I like for tight tracks or dense woods riding. Too bad for the latter I run a Turbine Core2 on public land! FMF silencers are cool fairly cheap bolt-on performance mods.

I ride a kdx 220r i do alot of trail riding and is the fatty pipe the pipe for me or should i look further to geting the gnarly pipe(woods) instead?
MotoSport Staff
Over 3 years ago Location: P+RTLAND
For trails i would run the gnarly with the turbine core 2

I run a FMF SST and Power Core2 on a '06 CR250r to rail public land and mountains in Montana. Pretty happy with it but I knew when buying my pipe that I had to protect the SST. Same would hold true for the Fatty. Of course, the Gnarly is the true off-road pipe of choice. On a KDX 220r I would get the gnarly, guards, silencer and be happy being indestructable. Silencers are good performance (and sometimes legal-necessary) enhancers.

Ive got a 2002 kx 125 which of the two silencers would be better, and would i have to re-jet the carbs?
MotoSport Staff Expert
Over 3 years ago Location: USA
Jetting specs can be found on FMF jetting spec page. The Powercore2 silencer will give you all around increased performance enhancement. The Shorty Silencer will help maximize bottom and mid power gains.
