Hinson constructed their Billet Clutch Basket out of aircraft quality T-6 aluminum, with aerospace tolerances and Akadized to increase the wear resistance by five times. With the efficiency of using this aluminum, the Hinson Billet Clutch Basket is able to increase the dissipation of heat within the clutch assembly. This feature produces better performance and increases the life of the clutch. Tight tolerances of the Hinson Billet Clutch Basket keep the clutch spinning more true, eliminating unnecessary friction and lowering the operating temperature of the clutch system. Use the Hinson Billet Clutch Basket in conjunction with the Hinson Pressure Plate and Inner Hub to kill clutch chatter, making your clutch consistent and reliable every ride.

Good but not great
Ive been through 3 of these now. They hold up just a bit longer than stock. The action is basically the same as stock untill they are notched.This is the basic problem with baskets. They notch rather quickly if you are on the gas. The notches are the largest contributer to poor clutch action. Once there is a notch the action at the lever is lost. In other words its all on or all off, no in between because the notches decide when and where the plates enguage. Dont be swayed just because "the factories" use somthing. They through a new one in each week just to have a near perfect launch at the start! That said this is a good product BUT it still has the same fundamental problem all baskets have. I write this review because as an engineer I know this can be overcome. The barnett basket with the stainless inserts are a good idea. However I have been through 2 of them also and gues what , they notch quickly too. The stainless they use is way too soft. Common guys lets see the next step in basket design!

Clutch Basket
I love the Hinson Brand. As a rookie to repairing bikes however you will need a Bearing press to get the Gear out and a grinding wheel shave down the pins for the primary drive. Pressing the gear from inside the basket. I would imagine all after market baskets are like that. but i am not real sure on that. Good thing though is that the Motosport team are really great guys and probably can answer that before you order.

Yes. You don't have to buy the inner Hinson hub to use the outer Hinson basket.

They are rubber inserts that are located on the back of the clutch basket. I'm only aware that Honda's have them. I've never seen them for any other mfg.

Hinson says on a 06 YZ125 the kickstart gear is included with the basket. Do you still use your stock cushions or is it ready to install?

This basket will not include the cushions. You can either use the ones off the the stock basket or you'll need to purchase them from a Yamaha OEM shop. Unfortunately we do not sell Yamaha OEM yet.

no, but it includes the receded screws to attach the gear, which you'll have to remove from the old basket.

you are correct in having to remove the gear from the old basket. This will include screws to attach the gear to the new hinson basket.
