Product Description

Heat Is the #1 Enemy of 4-Stroke Engine Performance

Boyesen SuperCooler Water Pump Cover and Impeller Kits are specifically designed to enhance the performance of your engine's cooling system. These high-flow, hydrodynamic water pump kits have been tested and designed to flow more coolant. By increasing the flow, the engine will run cooler at a more constant temperature.

The Boyesen Supercooler can reduce engine temperatures by as much as ten degrees, as confirmed by tests at Team Kawasaki. How does the Supercooler achieve this? Hydrodynamics. Boyesen's investment-cast aluminum water pump cover has bigger water inlets, a sculpted design, no casting seams, less restrictive corners, a more efficient impeller and less cavitation.

Win the War on Heat, Bolt on a SuperCooler NOW!

  • 2-piece cast aluminum construction.
  • Oil filter access for hassle-free filter changes.
  • Increased coolant flow at all RPM ranges.
  • Patented Nautilus style impeller for hydrodynamic efficiency.
  • Note: Gasket(s) is NOT included; use stock piece(s) or purchase new one separately.

Feature details:

  • Casting: By casting a totally new water pump cover, Boyesen was able to maximize the flow through the unit. Boyesen's design takes advantage of everything from Bernoulli's Effect to biological studies.
  • Superior Internal Hydrodynamic Shaping: Stock water pumps aren't very hydrodynamic. Their internal shape and impeller create excessive amounts of air bubbles in the water. Air bubbles lessen not only water flow, but the amount of water per cubic gallon. Boyesen's Nautilus-shaped cover and impeller increase pump capacity.
  • Optimized Water Inlet Diameter (High Cooling Capactiy): Unlike the stocker, Boyesen's water inlet has an increasing diameter and artfully curved shape. This is a vast improvement over most stock inlets, which decrease in diameter as they near the impeller and have a 90-degree bend at the pump (a very serious hydrodynamic no-no).
  • Optimized Impeller (Patented Nautilus-Style Impeller): Boyesen's patented impeller design is 25 percent more efficient at moving water than the inefficient stocker.

Overall
2004 yfz 478 big bore!
Location: New Cambria, MO 63558, USA
GREAT PURCHASE! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
I bought the super cooler for my 2004 yfz 450 that has been bored to a 478. The bigger bore has made it run a lot hotter but thanks to the supercooler, my yfz stays at a much lower temp now! Again, GREAT PRODUCT!!!!

Looks good
I installed on an 08 honda crf250r. It is very easy to install and it does look a little bigger than the stock one. I gave it 3 stars because of cost, it didn't come with a new gasket, and I cant tell that much of a difference but it does look good.

Worked as expected
I do a lot of desert riding (Glamis) and my engine temps would get a little high after hard riding out in the dunes, but after I installed this I did notice a decrease in temp. The impeller is noticably larger and no issues to date. This was placed on a 2009 yz450f. I will be getting this for the next bike I own, what ever it may be.

A must have
If you're tough on your bike and you do alot of single track and race offroad, this is a must have product. Bought this a couple of years ago for my Honda crf450r cause I had a couple of boil-overs. Ever since I bought this product, I haven't had any problems with over heating my bike. A great product, easy to install and looks great.

Will the one made for the yz426f fit a yz400f?

Unfortunately the kit from the YZ426F will not fit the YZ400F. It appears that Boyesen is not making a kit for the YZ400F either.

Water Pump impeller?
How do you hold the engine from spinning so you can take the stock impeller off? Do you hold it the same way to put the aftermarket one on? Should you replace all the seals and gaskets now that you have it apart? Is one 64 ounce jug of engine ice enough coolant with the flushing of the system?

please refer to your service manual when disassembling and advice on how to remove the impeller. I unfortunately can not advise you on how to work on your bike. If your seals were not leaking before, you might be ok just re-using them. But that would be entirely up to you. 64oz of Engine Ice will be more than enough to flush the coolant system.

First off, I'm not a mechanic. But I held the impeller with a padded pipe wrench and took off the center bolt. It came off no problem. I have a 2004 WR450 and put mine on a few years ago.

Temp differance?
I have a 2007 crf250r with PWR rads and hoses. will adding this kit make my engine run even cooler? Do you happen to know how much cooler it would help my bike run also?
Expert MotoSport Staff
Over 3 years ago Location: Portland, OR
Unfortunately we don't have the exact temperature differences you would get with this water pump kit, comparing it to the OEM. You can guarantee that this kit will decrease the temperature of the motor, as the impeller and water pump is larger and designed to push more water into the motor. Boyesen has been around for a long time and they know what works and what doesn't.

How many degrees of a difference will this make for 2009 YZF250?
MotoSport Staff
Over 3 years ago Location: P+RTLAND
Hard to say since Boyesen hasnt released any information that detailed for the 2009's.

I can't tell you degrees, but I can tell you what it did for me. I have a 2004 WR 450 I bought brand new. While riding around with my kids on their 50's back then, my bike would over heat to the point coolant would overflow. I think it was due to lack of air flow. I put this pump on and have never overheated since. I'm sold it does what it says. It also helps if you're just idling your bike while working on it, or something like that. I haven't noticed the bike running any different, it just doesn't overheat. Hope this helps...

Difference?
is there a difference from their latest water pump...what advantage do i get from the high flow
MotoSport Staff
Over 4 years ago Location: Tualatin
Not sure what their latest water pump is, as far as I know this is the same one they have had for a few years now. The high flow lets the water pump flow more coolant in turn letting your engine run at a cooler and more constant temperature.
