How do I tell what year my kx65 is?
MotoSport Staff Expert
29 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
You can find the year of the bike in the VIN number that is stamped in the frame. The tenth digit of your VIN will be a code for the year the bike was manufactured (it may be a letter or number). Here is a link to a webpage with a chart that shows the letter code for each manufacture year: http://www.weeksmotorcycle.com/motorcycle-vin.html

Will this fix my yz85 problem?
My yz 85 idles and makes a crackling noise in the bottom end, would this be a sure fix for it?
MotoSport Staff
Over 8 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
That is very hard to say as there could many different issues you have going on. You could have something going on with the clutch or the stator side even. Before ordering parts I would tear the engine apart to inspect for damage and then order parts accordingly.

What do you mean by "Complete gasket kit"?
Will the Athena kit include the top end gaskets like the cylinder and head gaskets? Will it include the clutch cover, oil filter cover, water pump, left and right crank case covers?
MotoSport Staff
Over 8 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Yes, this will include all of the gaskets to rebuild the engine. It does not include oil seals other than the crank seals though.

Mechanically speaking, the internal engine parts will be the same and this kit will fit your Australian 2005 CR125.

Hi i have to rebuild my 98 cr250 bottom end and i was wondering if i have to get a case splitter or can i do with out?
Going to go with hot rods bottom end kit, went with winscon and went through two cranks with in 2 /10 rides each:/ waste of money

Over 11 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Yes, to do the Honda bottom end properly you will need a case splitter and also a crank installer tool. The crank installer tools pull the new crank through the bearings so it is not damaged during installation. Do not use a hammer or mallet when installing the crank, it will damage it.

This package will include a crank, crank bearings and complete engine gasket set for your 2003 KX85. It does not include transmission bearings which I would also look into replacing depending how many hours are on the bike.
