Product Description

Important note: This oversized piston is 0.080" larger than stock. Please measure your cylinder to check clearance before ordering.

Wiseco leads the performance aftermarket by producing the highest quality forged pistons in the U.S.A. Wiseco is unique because they forge all of their own pistons in-house, and produce all of their own forge tooling in the U.S.A. This allows Wiseco to control all aspects of their manufacturing process from raw bar to skirt coating on the finished parts.

Extreme racing conditions demand the strength and toughness that only forged pistons can offer. Compared to cast pistons, forgings are tougher and more durable, and will stand up to the abuse that high performance motorsport applications require. Most castings are brittle, have no grain structure and tend to fail catastrophically when the material yield strength is exceeded. Forgings have condensed grain that is aligned to the features of the part, which produces higher mechanical properties, and resistance to impact and fatigue. Each forging is designed to optimize the strength-to-weight ratio, and maximize performance.

Wiseco Pro-Lite motorcycle pistons are forged using the highest quality materials available resulting in a piston that provides excellent performance and durability. The Wiseco Pro-Lite piston features a race-ready dome finish with smooth edges for improved combustion flow. The rings, wrist pin, and circlips are manufactured by Wiseco under their strict quality standards to make sure every piston kit fits correctly, ensuring top performance is achieved.

  • Bore size: 56 mm (Oversize).
  • Much stronger than stock.
  • Tight tolerances for quiet running.
  • More hours with peak performance between piston changes.
  • All Pro-Lite pistons include rings, wrist pin and circlips.

Note: Image is for reference ONLY, actual contents will vary based on fitment.

It worked but going to cast

Installed this in my 200EXC when I did a complete rebuild last summer. It ran great, had great power, 215psi compression from installation until I pulled it out last week with 90 hours on it. It did me well for almost 3000 miles of singletrack, desert blasting, a trip to Moab, etc. My only complaint is that the forged Wisecos do run much noisier compared to a cast piston because of the increased cylinder-to-piston clearance required. Excessive piston slap can be heard both when the engine is cold and at operating temp. I put in a cast piston this go-round and will from here on out.

WISECO SOFT PISTON

The Wiseco pistons are very soft and swell too quickly causing piston seizure. Never use a Wiseco piston if the factory or Pro-x piston is available. Factory pistons last twice as long as Wiseco soft pistons.

Great OEM rerplacement part

I have purchased this piston for both my RM 125 and my RM 250, and it has held up extremely well in both bikes. i have 40+ hours on this piston in my 125 (which i dont really recommend), and it is still running strong. i havent checked the compression on it lately, but it still starts first kick and runs strong as ever. wiseco has made quality products for years, and i will continue to buy wiseco parts as long as they are around. i totally recommend this product.

Wiseco Piston Kit

I ordered one of these for my KDX220 and went to install it, but the wrist pin that came in the kit was way too small. I believe Wiseco put the kit together wrong because when I called Motosport, they sent me a wrist pin out of another kit, and it was the same as the first. I called Wiseco and explained the situation and they promptly sent out the correct wrist pin. All is good and the Kit installed easily and is working well in the bike.

My cylinder measures 54.2 mm what size piston do I need?
MotoSport Staff Expert
5 days 16 hours ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
You would need the stock bore piston to fit your 54.2mm cylinder. (http://www.motosport.com/dirtbike/Wiseco-ProLite-2Stroke-Piston-Stock-Bore)

Does this piston have double rings like the picture?
Expert MotoSport Staff
21 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Most Wiseco Pro-Lite Pistons will feature double rings like pictured but it really would depend on the specific application.

What is the part number for this? Both yours and wiseco's?
MotoSport Staff Expert

I would need to know what kind of bike (Year/Make/Model) the piston would need to fit to tell you the specific part number for the piston.

Would this be good for a ktm125sx 2003?
Expert MotoSport Staff
3 months 9 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Yes this would be a great choice for your 2003 KTM 125SX. You may also look at the piston kits as they would include the gasket kit and wrist pin bearing for the entire top end rebuild. I'd also recommend looking into the Vertex Piston kit as Vertex is the brand used in KTM's from the factory.

The 2006 KTM 300 xcw has two piston options mine is 71.925. What is the size of this piston?
MotoSport Staff Expert
3 months 13 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
This would be a standard size piston. Wiseco list the bore size for that 2006 KTM 300 XCW as 72.00mm (that would be the size of the cylinder, the piston size would be slightly smaller). There is only one size (standard) piston offered from Wiseco.

This kit does not include a wrist pin bearing. The bearing must be purchased separately.

what is the next size up of piston for a ktm 125 sx 2007 ?
MotoSport Staff
Over 5 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
The stock bore piston is 54.00mm. The next size up that is offered by Wiseco is 56.00mm. Please give us a call for pricing and availability of the 56.00mm piston.

Is this a 2 ring piston? The picture shows 2 I just want to make sure?
I ordered one before & it turned out to be a single ring not much luck.
MotoSport Staff
Over 6 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
The Pro-lite piston is going to be a single ring piston for the 2008 KTM 125sx. The GP series piston is the 2 ring version. If you give us a call we can provide pricing and availability of the GP series 2-ring piston.

Cylinder size?
i have a 1997 kx125 it says stock is 54.5mm, i measured with a caliber and it is reading about 56mm. im not 100% on my math but would this measurment make it .02 over?, also i compared it to the 94 cylinder off my parts bike and that is reading 54 so im certain its larger, anyhelp would be appreciated
MotoSport Staff
Over 6 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Stock bore on the 1997 KX125 is 54mm. If you are cylinder is measuring out to 56mm, you will need a .080 piston.

How can I tell what size piston my RM85 takes it is supposed to be bored but I don't know how much?
MotoSport Staff
Over 8 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
You will need to measure the bore of the cylinder to determine what size piston it would take. The stock bore for an RM85 is 48mm. The best way to have this done, is to take the cylinder to a a machine shop and have it measured with a bore gauge for the most accurate measurement.
