Quiet and Powerful

I hadn't realized how loud my exhaust had gotten until I repacked it. FMF 2-Stroke Silencer Packing is awesome, it is inexpensive, easy to use, and quiets the exhaust w/o sapping power.

Did Exactly What I needed it to

Very Easy to install! I opened up my silencer took out the old, oil-soaked packing, rolled this right up around the power core put a piece of tape on it and it was ready to go! Very easy to cut for my FMF Shorty, improved my power, reduced noise, and no more oil drip! I recommend this packing to anybody!

Great product

I had some extra packaging after the install into my FMF Turbine Core 2 Q. I believe the newer models are just called the FMF Q. I mention this because the Q is a much longer silencer than the Turbine core or, obviously, the Shorty. Everything is running great after the install. I changed my packing when I added an FMF Fatty so everything would be in top shape. Make sure you have some high temp silicone before you repack the silencer, as it will be needed to seal the system.

Buy two packs!!

This stuff is realy loosly packed in the packaging and when you wrap your exhaust ,even a small 2 stroke silencer, there doest seem to be enough.

Will this fmf packing work with a fmf short?
I have a FMF shorty pipe will this packing work with it?

Yes, this would perfectly with your Shorty Silencer. You will likely have extra packing since this would also work for the standard length FMF Powercore as well.

I was just wondering of this came with the silicone? Thanks.?

No. There is not silicone included with the packing. You should be able to use any High-Temp Silicone that you would find at your local hardware or auto-supply store.

How to repack FMF Silencer?
MotoSport Staff
Over 5 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
First the outer can must be removed to gain access to the inner core. Typically this is done by either removing the screws or drilling the rivets(whichever your particular exhaust has) on the inlet side of the silencer. Once those are removed, you will be able to remove the outer portion or can of the silencer. You will need to remove all packing that still resides in the can and from around the core. The silencer packing comes in a large sheet and will need to be cut to length for the length of the core. After cutting the packing, you simply roll the packing up around the core snugly and reassemble the silencer. If you do a silencer repack search on youtube, there are a few that you can watch that will also help show you how to do it.

Whens a good time to change your packing?
I recently took my fmf apart and noticed that my packing was just soaked in oil, is that a good sign or a bad sign? and is there supposed to be any oil in that at all? and also is that a sign that its time to repack?? HELP PLEASE!
Expert MotoSport Staff

Oil in the exhaust packing is normal for a 2stroke. Leaving the oil soaked packing in the exhaust is not good. That's a good sign you'll need to repack and another indication is noticing the exhaust is getting louder.
Over 3 years ago Location: Surprise, AZ
Read this in a dirt bike magazine: oil soaked packing can be a sign of a couple of things good or bad - rich mixture, low RPM riding and/or blown piston rings. Oil is bound to happen but how often and how much is the question. Oil Soaked packing = repacking time. Mine dripped oil just sitting on a stand cold - it was that bad.

Would it matter if i used fmf packing along with moose packing?
Expert MotoSport Staff
I'm not sure what the moose packing looks like, but I wouldn't think that would be an issue. Its going to get oiled up anyways.

you only need to buy and use one thing of silencer packing for your 2 stroke. Take out the old packing and you can look up a video on youtube on how to re-pack your silencer

Will this work for the stock silencer??
i have a 98 cr 125 and im wondering if it will work in my stock silencer? i already have a pro circuit pipe and i just found out i really need to repack it there's nothing in it AT ALL!!
Expert MotoSport Staff

Yes, this will work in a stock silencer.
Jonsey21 Over 5 years ago
If you dont repack, will effect the engine?
Top 25 Contributor

It wont hurt your engine but it wont run the way it should. Repack it, you can tell a difference in power.
Top 500 Contributor
yes, all it does is slightly reduce the power so when you notice this you should change the packing
