Trying All Balls

I purchased a set of these for the rear carrier on my 04 LTZ400. I don't have any complaints with how they went in and the bearings and seals looked of decent quality. However, around 10 months after installation, I find myself with the ATV apart, punching out a set of bad bearings. Upon punching them out, one of the inner seals of the bearing came off. The whole thing was rusty with no trace of grease, which I found odd but maybe it washed out. Now, where I live and ride, there are quite a few creeks that I must cross on trails, so if you ride in a dry area, this review may not be worrisome. The axel on my quad isn't dipped or pitted where the seal sits, so I don't see why these bearings failed so early. Like I said, I am sure the water and grit of creek water done my last pair in but that is the reason there are seals. I did not purchase a second set of these and most likely won't, seeing as how All Balls are cheaper, and I probably will do bike surgery to fit some grease zerks on the carrier if the next set fails.

Where's the grease?

I know the mfgs do not pack bearings very well so I removed the seals and found it worse than I had imagined. If the bearings are not full of grease they are going to fill with something and here in the rain forest of northwest Oregon that will be mud. One of the three bearings inner race was flawed and should never passed inspection if they actually inspect them.

Number of bearings?
My 97 CR250 takes three bearings in the rear. Two on sprocket side and one on the other. Does this include three or only two?

Does the kit come with a retainer?
I am looking to buy the 2004 Honda Cr250r bearing kit and was wondering if that specific Pivot Works kit came with the retainer. It says in the description that some kits come with one, but it does not specify. Any information you can give me would be great

Does the kit include the aluminum Spacers for my '98 Suzuki RM250?
The description doesn't say it comes with the aluminum spacers that the seals seal against. I bought spacers separately for another model bike and then found that the kit had them included. Typically when you need seals you also need the aluminum spacers because they will have grooves worn in them. Does the kit for the '98Suzuki RM 250 have the spacers?
MotoSport Staff Expert

No this kit will only consist of bearings and seals. If you need spacers we will carry those in our O.E.M section

Price?
how much does it generally cost to get them installed professionally on a cr125?
MotoSport Staff
Over 4 years ago Location: P+RTLAND
Depends on who you take it to. Normally shop rates are about $50-$75 per hour for labor and shops will sometimes charge you the full hour even though it may not take them that long. It's really not the hardest thing to do yourself but I would say at least plan on spending at least $30.00 to have them installed.
