Pretty decent sprocket
This was a pretty decent sprocket, it lasted much longer than the junk Renthal sells. Still only lasted about 1/6 as long as an Ironman sprocket though.

What It Is

The creators of the original "Taperwall" handlebar, Pro Taper is the latest company to proudly step into the wide world of sprockets. Manufactured in Germany to the strict quality standards that have become synonymous with the Pro Taper name, the company's new sprockets are nothing short of top-notch.

Hits

Upon first glance, we were stoked with the rear sprocket's clean, factory-looking magnesium-colored anodized finish, which, for the record, doesn't fade. Underneath all of that, and even more impressive, however, is the fact that each sprocket is precision CNC machined out of heat-treated aluminum, one at a time, to ensure high quality and perfect roundness. In addition, the wellthought- out, computer-designed mud grooves angle away from the faces of the sprocket teeth, ultimately increasing durability and sprocket life. By keeping the integrity of the tooth profile intact, Pro Taper's mud grooves are also said to increase the chain contact area up to 44% over some of its competition. The real proof in the pudding, however, is sprocket life, and the Pro Taper units are built to last. In fact, we've heard from a couple of the professional race teams who have been riding with them all year that they are the longest-lasting sprockets they've ever used! Add to the mix their casehardened, specially coated, corrosion-resistant chromoly steel front sprocket, and you can't go wrong!

The Verdict

They look great, they're of extremely high quality, and they're among the lightest and certainly the most durable sprockets on the market today. Buy a set.
