Dunlop Geomax AT81 Rear Tire Dunlop Geomax AT81 Rear Tire Motormetal - Nor Cal 120/90/18 AT81 on a 450x "Ran this rear tire last weekend up Sled Ridge and around Penny Pines in Nor Cal with my son . Just installed the 120 width on both our bikes. He is 14 on a 250x and has been riding since he was 3. Rained the day before so we hit everything. Seemed to grip well at 12 psi with UHD Michelin tubes. My son's edges show a bit more wear than mine but I run a Rekluse so he may have had more wheel spin going up the rocky sections. We hit an area on the East side of Penny Pines that was so deep in mud we turned around. At that section an IRC MB5 would have been better. Pretty much needed a paddle tire as the mud was so deep. Overall it performed well on the stream crossings, roots, mud and rocks. It seems to have pretty good grip for such a small center lug section. I liked the prior 952 for durability so will see if it holds up as well. Had a new MX52 up front but didn't like the feel. Miss the old 756. Going to try the Goldentyre fatty up front next."

Dunlop Tire Combo Dunlop Tire Combo Johnnyp - Eatonton, Georgia Dunlop MX 52 Tire Combo "I purchased the combo set for my RMZ450. About normal getting them installed as with any tire. First ride was awesome. Superior traction thru mud, hard pack, and Georgia red clay and deep sand. I'm hoping for long life."

Dunlop: A History of Firsts

John Dunlop thought his invention for his son's tricycle was a first. Once he successfully tested his pneumatic tire he patented it in December 1888. Two years later his patent was declared invalid because Robert Thomson patented the idea more than 40 years earlier. But we know who the real winner is here. Know anyone riding around on Thomson tires?

The Dunlop name in rubber and tires is long and complicated. It started in 1889 as the Dunlop Pneumatic Tyre Co. Ltd when it commercialized John Dunlop's invention. Over the years the Dunlop name encompassed numerous products and ventures and was bought, sold and merged with several times. Despite the perceived turbulence, Dunlop is a strong brand and is now sold in Europe and the United States by Goodyear. Dunlop has manufactured motorcycle tires in Buffalo, NY since 1920 and today it is the only major motorcycle tire manufactured in the US.

Though John Dunlop lost his patent he was the first to actually make the pneumatic tire. His legacy for firsts continues to this day. Dunlop was first to introduce the use of Kevlar belts in motorcycle tires and they produced the first OEM radial street tire. Dirt bike riders can thank Dunlop for the first 20-inch front tire for off-road use and the company was first to manufacture premium tires for mini-bike riders.
