I thought these rimshields looked interesting given how difficult it is to change a tire (especially the rear) on a dirt bike and not damage or at least scratch the aluminum rim. Yeah, it's a dirt bike but I scratch it enough when I crash it, so no need to wreck it further when I am working on it. Bought a pair, first use on the front tire of a 2011 Husaberg 570 FE and the shields got shredded. Shields cracked along the outer rim. Although the shields are nylon and they seem very tough, they are basically very hard and brittle plastic which can't withstand the pressure of tire irons (I use Bike Master irons). I wish the shields would have worked as, yes, I put a pretty good scratch in the rim during this tire change. Avoid these, you are flushing your $9.99 down the proverbial toilet. I am going to see if Motosport will allow me to return these, only $9.99, but could at least buy an inner tube which will be of use to me.

mounted one brand new front on new black excel and a good used rear on new black excel, they worked great! baby powder up the tires, take your time with the dunlop method and 20 mins later youve just mounted a tire without even touching the rim metal to metal, so far ive mounted 7 tires with the same set, no cracks, nothing. motion pro also makes sum great irons for like 11 bucks. patience is the key broski.

Yes, they did protect the freshly powder coated rims, but I didnt think I would have to buy a set for every tire change. They did great on the front but busted into pieces on the rear tire install. If you buy them...better get two sets.

First time trying them they busted kept trying to re use them and they cracked over and over. Good idea bad plastic.
