If you are going to adjust the valves on your bike yourself buy this kit before you begin! If you are like me once you start a project you want to finish. Since you won't know what size shims you need until you get the bike torn apart if you have this kit on-hand you can complete this task all at once. Shims are good quality. The size of the shim is stamped on top but always check them with your micrometer before installing.

Must for anyone
I will shim out my valves till the end of their lifespan and it is incredibly nice to have just about every size possible to shim you bike back into specs. Sometimes intermediate sizes would be nice but always found that rounding to the next shim in the kit still puts everything within the designated tolerances. Just installed new Kibblewhite Black Diamond intake kit so I wont be bringing these out anytime soon but in 300 hours or so this kit will be back in my postride checklist.

i was recently having trouble starting my 2004 CRF250R, no matter how much i kicked it would not start. i bought this kit and replaced my intake valve shims and the bike fired "first kick" and idles like a dream. i highly reccomend Hotcams valve shim kit.

***2006 YZ450F*** I thought by looking at the pictures and description there would not be enough to re shim my valve train. It comes with a broad range of sizes with 3 pieces for each size in increments of .05. Easy to read marking on shim face makes it easy to identify which one you need. The case is built perfectly, you could shake it up and they would always stay organized. Would recommend and purchase again.

They do their job
The shims are very precise and accurate to what size they advertise which makes installation a breeze. They maintain their size and don't wear down which means they can be reused if need be. All in all a great kit. I must have reshimmed my LTRs close to 20 times with this kit and it has not let me down since.

Quit the sillyness....!
The convenience of this product cant be under stated. No more getting the valves "close enough" because the dealer doesnt stock parts and an internet company wont have parts to my door by the next ride. All the 250's in our group can be adjusted from the same kit. The only thing that would make this kit better would be half size shims but that would drive up the price. If you own a four stroke and dont have a shims kit, your wasting more money in time than the cost of the kit.

Backfiring?
I just reshimed my crf450 with the shim kit. And now it will backfire, but won't start. This was my first solo time shimming the bike

It sounds like you don't have enough clearence, re measure your clearence and make sure you keep the shims that you take out seperated so can measure them to get the right clearence.

will a kit from a 2007 honda 250 f work with the new 2010 i know it says all 250s but it dose not list the 2010

If you installed it wrong, than theirs a good chance the timing is off, so the bike probably won't start or if it does, it won't run properly.

I installed my cams incorrectly when I did my top end, i was off 1 tooth, It would barely start and when it started it did not run well, most noticeable on high loads (like in high gears or low RPM to high throttle input).

Yes, there are only 2 kits, a 250f kit and a 450f kit so as long as you both have 250f's the shims should be the same.

It says 3 shims for each size. But what if you have 4 valves? then you only have 3 shims of that size. Dont get it?

typically your valve clearance will not require you to run 4 of the same shims for each valve. the exhaust valves versus your intake valves will have different clearances, thus using different size shims. you'll have enough shims to get your required clearances, as long as your bike is listed under the selected ride fitment.

you will receive more than 3 shims. What the description is saying is that you will get 3 shims for every size starting at 1.20mm to the largest size 3.50mm, in .05mm increments.
