Insanely Loud!

I needed something for my 2012 Suzuki M50 Boulevard that would do it justice. Because the stock exhaust was rubbish and made it sound like a sewing machine.

The first time I started it up after I installed the Slashdowns I almost went deaf. Of course, I chose to take the baffles out because I'd heard cobra exhausts were extremely loud but I didn't believe those rumours at all. I intend to put the baffles back in to moderate it a bit. But not before a few rides!

Installation was about 3.5 hours and I had almost no issues. The instructions are simple and complete. I had a minor issue with the muffler mount but its only because I couldn't get enough friction to get the nut to bite and stop from slipping. I bought exhaust gaskets in preparation for this but I couldn't find any after I removed the stock exhaust so I installed these without them too.

The pipes weigh less than half the stock system and look terrific! I had no issues fitting them on (I bought the 09 spec exhaust for my 2010 spec M50). No missing parts and no hassles. By far the easiest addition I have added to my bike, And the BEST!

The sound is incredible. It sounds like a high performance drag beast. I had a hard time choosing between the Vance and Hines Cruzers and the Slashdowns. In the end I purchased the Slashdowns from Motosport at a very nice price and couldn't be happier. These are certainly louder than the Vance and Hines and come with the Bungs alread in, so all you need to do is unscrew the O2 Sensor and then screw it in to the new pipes.

All in all, I'm super happy with how my Boulevard now sounds (to match its excellent looks) and I highly recommend this exhaust for your 2009-2012 model M50!

Q: Do the oxygen sensor bungs fit like the stock one?
2 years 8 months ago
Hi, I'm ready to order this product. The only thing which keeps me from ordering is that I'm wondering if the sensor will fit with these bungs? Are the bungs installed on the same position as the stock exhaust? Could you send a photo of the bungs on the Cobra pipes? I have a European Suzuki M800 / VZ800Z Kind regards, Mike

A: I contacted Cobra directly to try to get an answer for you and this is what they said: "The M50 in the US does not come with 02 sensors. The C50 came with 02 sensors in 09 not in 08 in the US. Cobra makes pipes with the bung in the same place as the OEM pipes. The bung is the same thread as the OEM bung so the 02 sensor will just screw right in on an 09 C50." - Mike, Cobra USA

Q: Is this for the carbureted vs800's?

I was looking into and wondering if I'll have to re jet the carbs if I get this system. Also can the baffels be easily removed? Thankyou

A: Yes, this exhuast is available for your 2009 S50. More than likely you will need to re-jet the carbs with a full system exhaust. It does depend though on your location/elevation, and how the bike is currently jetted. The best bet is to purchase a jet kit that includes a jetting guide to help you select the correct jets for your location and the modifications done to the bike. These pipes do come with removable baffles that are held in with one screw under the end cap.
